Steak Burrito Bowls from The Meal Prep Manual - 2nd Edition eBook. In this picture I wanted to show what the difference could look like if you were meal prepping for weight loss or weight gain!

Remember that when we are making body composition changes, calorie balance is the most important factor to consider. To lose weight, we must be in a deficit. To gain weight, we must be in a surplus. I normally include 1/2 cup of rice in my meals that call for it but to remove some calories I lowered that serving to 1/3 of a cup. I also decreased the amount of steak to 5 ounces. You could also pick a leaner cut of beef to lower the calorie load even more. The amount of peppers was doubled to keep a similar volume of food! .

For the weight gain meal I doubled the rice, added extra meat, and halved the amount of peppers. Gaining weight is all about pounding calories. I’ve always struggled with weight gain and I know a lot of you guys do as well. One of my favorite books in my collection is this amazing compilation of endless knowledge, “The Way of the Warrior” by author and martial artist @chriscrudelli 
This wonderfully laid out book details everything someone studying the martial arts finds completely invaluable. 
And if you want to have a complete understanding of your particular training style or discipline, or any that you have an interest in, you really should have this book. Detailed information on history, weaponry, origins of styles and cultural significance, from ancient arts to modern day defensive applications. 
Full of insightful information, amazing pictures, maps and diagrams, it’s easy to get lost in the plethora of knowledge put together in this book. 
As I’ve said before, martial arts is all about endlessly learning, be it in the dojo, in the ring, within situations, learning from others, seek skills and knowledge from everywhere and anywhere, there is no limit. Arm yourself with as many learning applications as you do with practiced skills, and you will be surprised how much you can learn and add to your arsenal. Наполеон

Тесто:
● 2 яйца,
● 150 мл воды,
● 300 г сливочного масла,
● 1/2 ст.л уксуса 9%,
● соли на кончике ножа,
● 600 г муки.

Крем:
● 1 л молока,
● 400 г сахара,
● 1 пакетик ванилина,
● 7-8 желтков (но думаю, можно и просто 4 яйца),
● 100 г муки.

1) Развести воду с уксусом и перемешать. Взбить 2 яйца. Смешать яйца с водой и уксусом. Добавить соль. Перемешать. Ножом или на терке измельчить масло. На стол (или в большую миску) насыпать муку, сверху выложить масло. Порубить ножом. Сделать углубление и влить яичную смесь (осторожно, она может убегать). У нас убегала, и мы ловили его в четыре руки ))
Замесить тесто. Разделить тесто на 12 кусочков, сформировать шарики, выложить на тарелку и накрыть пищевой пленкой. Убрать на час в холодильник.
2) Пока шарики стоят в холодильнике - приготовим крем. Литр молока довести до кипения. Яичные желтки перетереть с сахаром и ванильным сахаром. Добавить муку, перемешать. Смешать полученную смесь с молоком. На маленьком огне, постоянно помешивая, довести до загустения. Шарики теста очень тонко раскатать на пергаментной бумаге. Приложить форму (крышку от кастрюли, тарелку) и по контуру обрезать ножом лишнее тесто. Будущий корж наколоть вилкой (чтобы корж при выпекании не вздулся). Лишнее тесто оставляем на пергаменте и тоже запекаем. Корж выпекать при температуре 180 градусов примерно 7-10 минут, до золотистого цвета.
Каждый корж смазать кремом. Смазать также верхний корж и бока. Обрезки собрать. Измельчить толкушкой или в блендере. Посыпать верх торта и поставить торт Наполеон на 5-7 часов в холодильник.

3) Век живи - век учись. У меня никогда не получалось перенести тонкие коржи на противень. Пока не прочла совет раскатывать прямо на пергаментной бумаге и на ней прямо и печь.

My clients need their pain.

In most fitness and health coaching situations, I'm working with people who are in the midst of lifestyle upheaval.

That takes a lot of work. It also comes with a lot of ups and downs. Which are all completely normal.

All clients deserve the opportunity to “feel” the lows.

In fact — this is important; pay attention — all clients may need those low moments in order to make progress.

Most change comes from responding to pain. We usually don’t change until the pain of not changing gets too strong to be ignored.

In other words, we need that pain. Pain is a signal to pay attention, get present, and check in.

And from a coaching perspective, clients need people to be with them in that pain… but not necessarily trying to push them out of it too quickly.

If I want my clients to follow me to the finish line, I have to be able to support them in dark times. I have to let them be real.

Last night I had a client over for some instant pot 101. 👩‍🍳Made green curry chicken with zucchini and sweet potatoes, spicy red curry lentil soup, jasmine rice and hard boiled eggs for my client to use later for deviled eggs.  Loved using 3 instant pots at once.  We all got some great leftovers for today! 😋 #instantpot #mealprep #mealplanning #realfood #nutritionsavvy #broomfield

Y’all! I normally live my daily life doing IF (Ibtermittent Fasting). 👊🏻 However, the past two weeks have included EXTRA workouts leading me to need more calories 🙌🏻 I’ve been SOO hungry, so instead of stressing about it...I’ve been listening to my bod and eating! 😜 .
This is my GO-TO breakfast! ✅ Plan it! Prep it! And then eat on them for the week 🙌🏻🤸🏻‍♀️💖

Check it out ~ Loaded Baked Omlet Muffins (from my favorite....Skinnytaste) 🙌🏻

INGREDIENTS:
✅ nonstick cooking spray
✅ 9 large whole eggs
✅ 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
✅ black pepper
✅ 3 strips cooked chopped bacon (we use Turkey Bacon)
✅ 3 tablespoons thawed frozen spinach, drained
✅ 3 tbsp diced tomatoes
✅ 3 tbsp diced onion
✅ 3 tbsp diced bell pepper
✅ 2 oz shredded cheddar

DIRECTIONS:
1️⃣ Preheat the oven to 350F. Spray the muffin tins with cooking spray.
2️⃣ In a large bowl whisk the eggs, season with salt and pepper.
3️⃣ Mix in the remaining ingredients.
4️⃣ Fill  and place tins on a cookie sheet and bake 20 to 25 minutes, until set.

If there’s one upside to having a tendency towards the obsessional, it’s the fact that in matters of organising and planning, I excel. There’s nothing I like better than writing down a plan to tackle a problem, so that’s what I’m doing this week. Behold the Standardised Meal System (an inside joke for those who’ve read the Rosie Project). The area in which I constantly fail when trying to clean up my act is not knowing what to eat when I’m hungry. This leads to bad decisions and frequent overeating. It’s also true that I end up in the supermarket twice a day on an average weekday, increasing my exposure to temptation far beyond what is necessary. So here’s my solution! Conscious of not wanting to “diet” as such but to change my behaviours in a more enduring way, I’m going to start trying to do weekly shops and stick to this loose structure for a few weeks and see how I get on. Any tip, send them my way! I finally feel like a real grown-up (it’s only taken 30

The sauce was a combination of plain yogurt and just lemon juice to taste, which gave it a tasty yet healthy touch! 🍋

I cooked the fish about 2-3 mins per side seasoned with salt and pepper and a dash of taco seasoning.

This salad makes me wish it was fall. 
Greens with honey mustard baked chicken, avocado, beets, cinnamon roasted butternut squash, and @traderjoes everything but the bagel seasoning.
This chicken came out wonderful!  I made a marinade of @thenewprimal classic marinade, coconut aminos, and @tessemaes honey mustard and a bit of oak smoked sea salt, wrapped it in parchment paper and baked at 350° for 30 minutes or until it’s fully cooked through.  Super moist and flavorful.

Dinner #mealprep for the week starting yesterday is paleo(ish) Mississippi roast with homemade cheesy cauliflower mash! I wanted to make the roast this week because it was amazing when I made it quite awhile ago, BUT I couldn’t overlook the ingredients in those dry mix packets that the normal recipe calls for this time around (dextrose, hydrolyzed corn gluten, and corn syrup solids to name a few in the most popular brands).😖🤢😭

I started looking at paleo recipe variations and decided I liked the sound of the @plaidandpaleo version the best and loosely followed hers!
.
I used her recipe for easy ranch seasoning that’s linked on the roast recipe page except I left out the dried celery and did 1 less tablespoon of the dried onion flakes.

I adapted the roast recipe based on the size of my chuck roast and the ingredients I had as follows:
8 servings
🌟3.37 lb chuck roast
🌟3 Tbls easy ranch seasoning
🌟1 cup beef bone broth (forgot to lower the amount since I did this in the morning before coffee🤦🏼‍♀️)
🌟1/2 Tbls Bragg’s liquid aminos
🌟6 pepperoncinis
🌟4 Tbls organic salted butter-this is why I put paleo(ish) because I THINK only ghee, like the original recipe called for, is considered paleo and not butter. Not positive though!

For the mash I made I did a bag of fresh caulirice, 3oz of @kerrygoldusa Reserve Cheddar, 2T(30g) sour cream, @redmondrealsalt salt (the only salt I use!), and fresh ground black pepper. Blended it all in my food processor and called it a day!

On my last day of the first week of this program, I decided to pickup dumbbells instead of hitting the barbell just for a different feel with the reverse grip bench. This form is also superior to regular db bench because you'll get a greater stretch on your pecs at the bottom and you'll feel the burn right away!

These rows target the upper back and traps as you can see. You’ll also get some rest delt activation due to the pulling angle. Be sure to squeeze at the bottom to really get a pump goin and get that full stretch at the top.

Overall , as with anything, be sure to control the weight the entire time and not to too fast. That's the key to feeling it and getting the best workouts.

Simply put your body is getting hotter then it wants to so your body adapts by sweating to bring your temperature back to a normal range.

There are numerous factors that contribute to sweat production including weight, age, gender, hydration, food intake, caffeine intake, sodium intake, type of exercise, rest periods, exercise volume, exercise intensity, cardiovascular health, and even the simple stuff including the workout environment temperature.

Last week I squatted 150lbs for 8 reps and I was drenched in sweat, however today I squat 160lbs for 8 reps with little to no sweat. There are 30 different factors that contribute to how much I did or did not sweat but I clearly made progress...I squatted 10 more lbs this week! I do NOT need to keeping squatting and risk injury or intentional fatigue just for the sake of sweating. I have measurable progress that indicates my squat improved 10lbs this week; that is a successful, effective, quality workout! Meal prep for to get ready for busy days. Doing renovation ourselves means living in a mess for awhile. And when you are renovating your kitchen means you have no sink, stove or oven for cooking. So I made some homemade chicken breast patties of different seasonings and keep them in the fridge and freezer so I can just toss them on the hot plate at the balcony. With an egg, some anchovies, kimchi and brown rice, that’s my lunch plate. Then back to working on the kitchen.

Life is not always easy and not as what we expected. Yes, I don’t have foodcourts and hawker centers near me and it will cost at least 5-10€ to have a meal. Or I can buy salad or sandwiches from the supermarket for about 2-5€. But I chose to eat better and cheaper just by planning a little. .

Yes it takes more effort and I definitely do not live a Tai Tai life like what some of you might think. But I like to think of this as a good life. I still haven’t forgotten the mad rush till the day I left SG. And We are still working hard and trying to make our lives as beautiful as we can. I haven’t had any French classes or met that many friends yet but I am not in a hurry. I miss my friends and family but I am still very much in touch and I am thankful that it’s made possible with technology. Life is too short to think negatively. Nowadays, I refuse to allow myself to get too angry or sad for too long. Just focus on the solutions. That works best for me 😊. Bonne journée!
