#buddha#peace#betrayal#retrospection#mcleodganj#mountains#lostinmountains
In McLeod, there's a story to be told in every step. From Tibetan inspired graffiti, to the lounging street animals with names we have yet to know, to the beautiful artisans and craftsman showcasing their talents. Even a rainy day here inspires creation and your pen to a page. Again, feeling so grateful for where life has taken me. The mountains and the fresh air are my sweet escape from the bustle of city living. #backpackingwithapurpose
Of broken bones & skinned knees,
with a gazillion selfies,
some chai & Maggie,
we made it up the hill in three.
And amidst the woollen caps & gloves,
the clouds & the mist that stayed right above,
there were my girls, with their laughter & leg-pulling, warming me.
In the little bit of travelling I've done I've had the chance of travelling with strangers & loving every bit of it. Thus, when my friends of over 10 years & I were to take our first ever trip together, I was excited but a tad bit nervous. After our trip I realized that travelling like most things in life is best loved without comparison. It is beautiful in each of its forms & its beauty ought to be cherished without comparing it.
Travelling with strangers is liberating, for you tell them your stories with thoughts you've probably never voiced. Travelling with your friends is comforting because your love reiterates your bond in unspoken ways in new environments too.
These are the people who know who's broken your heart & how, what's your favourite food item & which liquor you can't handle, what your philosophies on life are, which has been the worst day of your life & the best; chances are they were sitting right next to you through it all, cursing someone, scolding you for being a fool & yet hugging you through it too.
And somehow I still learnt something new about my girls, even after all this time. Some things that are hilarious, some reassuring & some heartwarming. You see that's the beauty of human beings, we're ever changing & ever evolving. You can know someone incredibly well & you can still continue to learn more of them, some bits that leave you confused, some even a bit amused & some that make you love them even more.
I've for long identified with the thought that home is a feeling and not a place. My friends & family have for long joked about my inability to sit at home. They're not wrong. The itch & excitement of new places will probably never get scratched in my heart, yet no matter where I go, there they are & there they will be, my girls, feeling like home.
Their laughter & leg pulling,
their memories & stories,
always warming me.
We believe that travelling is one of the way to find the real 'U'. It helps you to break, to mould yourself in every possible way!
A trip to any small hill station through bus or train is more memorable rather than a trip to Europe through flights.
The journey on foot with your beloved ones will give you multiple taste of life. A large stone, a curvy road, a cliff to climb is one of those small things which will teach you the mantra of survival!
Trek to Triund Top along with @sampath.p and @_imsumitgupta from McLeod Ganj and back on the same day was a great experience. In the extreme weather conditions of Monsoon in the Dhauladhar Range of the Himalayas along with heavy downpour in between we finished our journey with a step count of over 36k and distance of more than 20kms covered in a span of 10 hours. In our case, once we reached the top the rain stopped, clouds cleared up and the sun came out showing the extreme beauty the mountains have to offer making every inch of our efforts worth it.
