Atlanta area friends, do yourself a favor and go and see The Venardos Circus while they are in the area (in the parking lot of Perimeter Mall), now thru Oct 6! This talented, funny, creative team of HUMAN only performers was an absolute joy to watch today! We got to interact with the cast of performers up close, had incredible seats and created precious memories with our children, sharing with them our deep love for the circus.
For those who are sometimes aren't huge fan of the circus due to concerns for animals, or simply disliking clowns because they creep you out, this is the circus for you! It's completely family friendly!
Thanks Venardos for completely exceeding my expectations!
When the world becomes a fantasy,
And you're more than you could ever be.
'Cause you're dreaming with your eyes wide open🎪
Finally watched #TheGreatestShowman the other night, and the soundtrack has literally been stuck in my head for the past 2 days. Not mad about it though 🤷♀️
In 2011, I had the pleasure of dining with Todd Robbins, Teller and Ward Hall in a cozy dark Italian restaurant in Greenwich Village. Just the four of us.
As I shared a plate of carbonara with Teller (which he insisted, saying it was “a heart attack on a plate” and couldn’t possibly finish it alone), Ward, sitting across from me raised his eyebrow and coyly said with a mischievous smirk “....Give me your palm.” I obliged, and by candlelight, he proceeded to read my entire hand, and even my finger creases. A lot of what he said did come true. He predicted people that would come into my life, and he even predicted Bess.
These pictures were from the last time I saw him, during my reign as Miss Coney Island, after he did a fantastic talkback in Coney. He talked about his life in early sideshow, about literally running away with the circus, being open about being queer, life on the road, and adventures through his entire lifetime.
I brought my sash to him afterwards in the freak bar and told me he was “so proud” of me. He took my palm once again to read it, and said one day my name would be in lights!
He then signed this autograph in my notebook (which is now framed on my kitchen wall): “With best wishes to Miss Cherry Delight
Miss Coney Island
Headed to Broadway
May all your days be circus days.” The handful of times I did spend with Ward, brief as they were (spanning from 2007 onward), were charming treasures. Every time he saw me, he remembered me immediately.
It was an absolute honor.
Here’s to you, Ward Hall, The King of Sideshow.
Thank you thank you thank you for everything you gave us.
For giving weirdos a home, and a living. For giving the talented and unusual a place to be stars.
For making all our days circus days.
today I’m off preparing for the start of my final two weeks of teaching Circus Dance Camp at the Durham Arts Council 🔴 what a gift these six summers have been... it’s been a dream to create a tiny circus of my own and I hate to say goodbye 🔴 at least I got to share a little circus magic with these kiddos 🎪 #mayallyourdaysbecircusdays
Thinking about my next move like... 😼😼😼
I can not thank Florida State University enough for giving me the opportunity to pursue my education and for allowing me all of the incredible opportunities that I would have never crossed had it not been for you. Thank you @alphachiomegafsu for accepting me Freshaman year for the dorky gal I was (and still am). If it wasn’t for @nobearsallowedcomedy for teaching me improv and allowing me to come out of my shell sophomore and junior year, then I would have never been able to finish up my last and final year by fulfilling my dream of being in the @fsuflyinghighcircus. Outside of Florida State I would have never been able to experience and meet some of the most incredible people if it wasn’t for the best #FAM in the game! Thank you @thestriptally. Most importantly, (drumroll please) a HUGE THANK👏YOU👏 to my amazing parents for pushing me through this whole amazing mess and for believing in me through it all!!! You guys truly are my rock and I couldn’t have done this without you. ♥️♥️♥️ Thank you Tallahassee and thank you to all of my friends and family who stood by my side the whole time. I truly .. couldn’t have done this ... without you 😉😽 #iykyk I DID THE THING !!! #mayallyourdaysbecircusdays#sosters#stripfam#iiiimproooovvv#yesand#gonoles#garnetandgold

In for a long but beautiful day at work today, 3 shows in this amazing big top! After a sneaky peak at the rehearsals last night, I can safely say anyone coming to this circus is in for a treat! 😍🎪✨ #mayallyourdaysbecircusdays
How to properly thank your clown teacher @marisa_diamond ! We didn’t get a chance to thank you all back with pie (yet), but do want to thank and congratulate ALL our kids and families on their wonderful final performances at @aircraftaerial . From the colorful “Day In Life” show presented by our weeklong youth intensive participants on Friday, to each of the session-long classes’ lovely culmination shows on Sat...you inspire us, and we truly hope to see you down the road! #pieday#clown#youthcircus#mayallyourdaysbecircusdays @americanyouthcircus
Reaching for the weekend because it's here! 🙌 Yesterday might have been #InternationalYogaDay , but I didn't actually do any yoga. 🧘♀️ Instead, I took a lyra class, and it felt SO GOOD to be upside down on that hoop again. Can't wait to continue my weekly class and share my practice with you all. 😘
