Fun day adventuring with little @lilly_lol_west and her pony Penny. I’m not that good at editing yet but here are some clips from our outing. Really bummed at how warped the quality is once uploaded to IG.
a little real talk: last week I finished up my summer at the @capecodtimes, celebrated my 22nd birthday and found out that my immediate post-grad plans wouldn't be panning out in the way I thought. I had to make a tough call - moving to France to work for a company I didn't trust, or staying home & starting the job search fresh - and I ended up choosing the latter. sometimes you just have to go with your gut, even if it means changing all of your plans, putting your pride on the back burner & being unsure of the future. 🌞 so here we go, reaching towards the back end of August, grateful for a summer at the best paper on the east coast & excited for what's to come.
I think it’s funny when people say that there is an over saturation of photographers today. Imo there will never be enough people exploring the line that straddles fantasy and reality. That’s what real art is, a personal interpretation of the dream before it manifests into something real. A way to communicate something not understood yet. No we don’t have many people striving for that, we do have an epidemic of people copying things they see on Pinterest. But that is just propaganda, and there has always been propaganda trying to emulate something real. All good art is truth, and you know it when you see it because it gives you a glimpse of answers where you didn’t know you had questions. It ties a thread between you and something more powerful. I take maybe 5 photos a year that I am really proud of and they always occur not when I plan out a shoot but when I go to a shoot with an empty head, no plans, ready to be guided by intuition.
