Announcing something super fun on the blog today! It's my big kick off in Baltimore with a special treat for teachers!! If you're in the Baltimore area or willing to travel go check out more details for my BACK TO SCHOOL MINIS!!!
Mine is a family of fishes. Not only because my honey's last name is easily nicknamed "Fisch" -- but because, apparently, we're all made for water. He grew up on the Texas coast in #galveston . Me, in landlocked #maryland but living for our summers in #atlanticbeach North Carolina. The children want nothing more from life -- ever -- than a pair of goggles and a chance to play in the water. They'll swim until they're so waterlogged and pruny that we have to virtually drag them out of the water and strait-jacket them in a towel for a break. Not that I'm complaining.
So excited to meet this sweet family’s newest addition in October! Big brother predicts it’s a girl ❤️ Robert and I always found out the gender of our littles, but I think finding out at the birth certainly is one of the best surprises you’ll ever have! Parents: Did you find out? Or was it a surprise? #jessbeckerphotography
Hey, hey! Happy Tuesday! For today's #phototipswithMB I want to talk about composing an image. Good compositions accurately convey an artist's idea or feeling. As artists ourselves, we need to identify our idea or feeling about a scene before we snap a photo so we can create with intention. When composing an image ask yourself what your goals are in creating that image. To practice, consider asking yourself the following questions before you photograph:
Why am I taking this picture?
What is it in this scene that I am attracted to?
Is there a particular mood I would like to portray?
What is the subject or general theme?
What is my center of interest? Do I want to show movement? What kind of DOF would suit this image best? Do the other elements in the photo support or distract from my center of interest?
When my mom had my brother, she made him a collection of photo albums. It’s binder-sized albums where she taped each of his photos in order since he was born to around when he turned 4, and she even wrote a little note next to each photo. Unlike him, I had this one tiny white photo album that fits about 100 photos and no space for any notes. Rest of my photos have always been scattered in envelopes & boxes. So every time I see my old photos, I sarcastically made the point to my mom how my brother has his “special” albums and I have that one tiny old album. She said it was impossible to find time to do the same while raising a newborn & a 4-year old. And I can tell you, we weren’t easy kids to raise. Honestly, I was never once upset about those albums. I’m actually eternally grateful that she took so many photos of me that I will cherish forever. Well apparently, that was something that was always on my mom’s mind😭 Now that she has more time, she is now making me those albums😭😭😭 Last week, she bought couple of “big” photo albums to put my baby photos with notes. It’s funny to see her staring at the photos, comparing them and then trying to remember which goes first, but it’s the sweetest thing ever💕💕Aaaand of course, I would make fun of her that the order of my photos will never be perfect & accurate as my brother’s🤣
We had a blast vacationing at @jellystoneluray last week! I wanted an updated family photo of us to print for my work desk, and the mountains made for a perfect backdrop. I loved having extra time to spend with family! 😀 #familyphoto#vacationfun#jellystonepark#boymom
