SpaceX's Big Falcon Rocket (BFR), a fully reusable vehicle designed to take humans and supplies to Mars and also to dramatically cut travel time within Earth, is getting a new name, Starship, the company's CEO Elon Musk has announced.
"Renaming BFR to Starship," Musk said in a tweet late on Monday.
This two-stage vehicle - composed of a Booster and a Ship - is designed to eventually replace the company's Falcon 9, Falcon Heavy, and the Dragon spacecraft.
It is designed to service all Earth orbit needs as well as the Moon and Mars.
In a tweet, Musk explained that Starship would be the name for the spaceship/upper stage and Super Heavy would be the rocket booster needed to escape Earth's deep gravity well.

In less than a week, @NASA's InSight Mission is expected to land on Mars! It will be landing in Elysium Planitia (plain close to the equator on Mars) at 3:00 PM EDT on November 26, 2018. We have sent so many missions to Mars, however this one is special - first mission to study the interior of the fourth rocky planet 😁
InSight mission will study interior with the help of two instruments - a seismometer and heat probe. Seismometer will detect quakes (if any) and will measure atmospheric waves and tidal forces from Mars' moons. The heat probe is freaky 😛 it will bore 16 ft in the ground and lay down a tether with temperature sensors! The mission also has an experiment that will make precise measurements of planetary rotation. So much awesomeness in one tiny lander - the lander is only 358 kgs in total and science payload is only 50 kgs 😳
The mission will last 1 Martian year (~2 Earth years). #DidYouKnow Only ~40% of the missions ever sent to Mars have been successful. InSight will become the first mission to use a robotic arm to place instruments on the surface of another planet.

Mars VTOL reentry ship
This part is about the atmosphere entry of manned spaceships, although landing rockets upside down is probably the best way for human to land on Mars in the early stage of mission, an SSTO double cycle VTOL ship is probably the best reentry vehicle for Mars.
But if Mars direct plan works, and is able to create methane in orbit, then a plane would be better in the long term for manned reusable reentry vehicle. A rocket requires the landing site to be flat, and use less aerodynamic controls but more thrust control to land the ship. SpaceX have proven this concept to be very effective, but on the other hand this process does require more delta-v to and from Martian surface to LMO compared to an air breathing engine vehicle.
An SSTO double cycle VTOL space plane would mean that the plane can land almost anywhere due to its vertical landing. The space plane can also relaunch much more faster than a rocket, which will increase the traffic frequency between Martian surface and LMO. The air breathing cycle would allow the plane to burn less methane and completely save oxidizer during atmosphere flight. With bigger wing area the plane can use more aerodynamic braking during reentry, saving more delta-v, it also allows more control within the atmosphere which enables a much more controlled landing. The downside of an SSTO space plane compared to an reusable rocket are, the thrust of a reasonable sized space plane is probably a lot lesser than a rocket, the wings on the plane will create more lift but also drag surfaces during access. This means there will be more delta-v needed for a space plane to go into LMO than a rocket. Since the engine need to be double cycle in order to operate in vacuum, consider a space plane is usually a lot smaller than a rocket, the oxidizer tank will also occupy space leading to an decrease in the cargo hold area. Depends on the space plane design, but it is very possible that the cargo delivery capability of an average size space plane is a lot smaller than a rocket the size of BFS.

We didnt know what to expect when we went to Mars, but it certainly wasn't a Hive army thawed and starved for light. Reports were sparse...they said The Red Legion were trying to gain a foot hold. We werent going to let that happen, transmated to the surface. No Cabal in sight. They swarmed out of the ground, my partner didnt even get the chance to put down a single thrall before they tore him to pieces. My Suros spit death....I kept expecting his Ghost to resurrect him....I cant be sure of exactly what happened after that, but I know one thing. I killed them all.
