This holiday season consider registering to become a marrow donor. Pictured here is donor Michael Powell who helped cure a 13-year-old sickle cell patient with this miracle gift.
After being in the registry for 10 years, I was called to be a match. Not all who register are called but you might be the one to make a difference.

Hi guys! 👋🏻 I just wanted to show you how easy it is to find out if you could be a match for marrow donation! I used DKMS and you can click the link below to find out more!! 👇 /DKMS.us
You simply request a swab kit be mailed to you, once you receive the kit start swabbing, following the directions.
Once you’re finished, place the swabs into the provided prepaid envelope and drop it in the mail!! Once they get the swabs back, they will be sent to a lab to find your unique typing to match you to a patient and include that information in their database. When your name is added, you will be sent a letter of confirmation and a personalized card with your name and donor ID number. @dkms_us #marrowdonor#cantwaittomarrowyou#wedeletebloodcancer#bethechange#savealifebeadonor#swabselfie#swabselfies
I’ve been a registered bone marrow donor since 2013. In Poland, every hour someone finds out they have leukemia, a cancer of the blood cells. Bone marrow transplant is very often the only help. I haven’t been a donor yet, which means that my genetical twin is healthy. I encourage all of you to register. We are organizing a “Plastwil Marrow Donor Day”, which is going to take place on Friday, 19th October between 2pm and 8pm. During the event, it will be possible to register in the DKMS foundation donor database. Apart from that, everyone will have the chance to learn about the marron donation procedure and dispel the doubts about registration as a potential donor. We invite you all to take part and register Although the event is going to take place at our company, I’d like to invite not only our employees, but all people of good will to join and take active part in helping people suffering from leukemia. #plastwil#marrowdonor#dkms#leukemia#help
Did you know that October is cancer awareness month? @izzysfizzieslemonadestand is donating a Luxury Custom Gift Box to the @icladasilvafdn for their silent auction and gala. .
The mission of the Icla da Silva Foundation is to save lives by recruiting bone marrow donors and providing support services to children and adults with leukemia and other diseases treatable by marrow transplants. The Icla da Silva Foundation was established in 1992, in memory of the 13-year-old Brazilian girl named Icla da Silva. After two years of fighting leukemia, Icla passed away in New York City, where she came hoping to get her life saving treatment: a bone marrow transplant. The young girl never found a matching donor.

I highly recommend this book if you're a care giver of a terminally ill cancer patient. This book gave me something to focus on when there was nothing I could do for my loved one. Not only does it have recommendations for appetite loss, it gives guidance on foods to help with different cancer treatments.
As I approach the 7 year anniversary of my mother's transition I find myself in a position to help others in ways I could never have imagined.
Earlier this year: .
🔹I donated PBSC's to a leukemia patient through @bethematch .
🔹 participated in my first 5K for @icladasilvafdn .
🔹 And just this week I culitvated a Luxury Gift Box with
@izzysfizzieslemonadestand for @icladasilvafdn to support their gala and silent auction.
The possibilities for helping those in need are endless, whether it's volunteering your time, personal resources or giving the gift of life.
It took one minute for me to register and only four hours to actually donate. I can't tell you what it means to receive this type of gift. I can tell you that as a pregnant care giver of a terminally ill parent, it would have been priceless to have had the opportunity for my mother and daughter to actually meet. You can do that for someone right now today.

As we celebrate National Coming Out Day, we also celebrate a liberated marrow registry! There is no longer a restriction for gay men to join. And since 52% of marrow matches are MEN, this opens up more opportunities to IGNITE LIFE! Join online NOW @marrowmatch.org
Only 30% of people who need a bone marrow transplant will find a match within their family. The other 70% rely on anonymous donors found on @bethematch donor registry.
Because our ancestry determines the genetic makeup of our bone marrow, donors and their recipients typically share common ancestry. Unfortunately, people of color have a much harder time finding an available donor due to a lack of enough diversity among current registry members. If Mabel were to ever need a bone marrow transplant, her diverse Ghanaian-Dominican ancestry would make it much more difficult for her to find a fully-matched donor.
So for Mabel's first birthday, we want to help bring awareness and help get as many people to join the registry.
There will be a Registry Drive on October 20th at the @sorensonunitycenter where you can learn more about marrow donation. If you can't make it in person, you can get the facts and have a kit sent to you by following the link in my bio.
Thank you @hancuffs for your willingness to join and help save someone's life! It is truly the best birthday present Mabel could ever get!!! 😘😘😘
