It's not always gargantuan shifts in behavior that make a difference, sometimes it's the little things that count.
A lot of times people crave to create extreme changes in their lives instantly.
The desire is there and that's good, but when change is not gradual it's easy to fall right back into bad habits.
When you make small gradual changes you are more likely to cement them into your everyday behaviors.
It's easy to discount these small changes because the results are not always readily evident.
A negative example would be the habit of smoking. It often starts off as maybe a cigarette here or there, but can easily turn into a pack or two a day for some people.
The major consequences of this are terrifying such as heart disease, lung cancer or death.
Likewise, but in a more positive light adding little positive changes to your life, and allowing them to compound will have dramatic positive effects.
Like a muscle that significantly builds strength with consistent use so is the building of good habits in your daily routine.
At first the muscle may not be able to life much, but overtime you find the muscle increases its strength. But if you go to the gym for the first time, and never lifted a weight, going straight after a 500lbs bench press probably won't work out for you.
Big changes are important, but remember they require vastly higher amounts of energy in many cases.
It also takes more mental energy to keep the changes in place.
Remember: "By the yard it's hard, inch by inch it's a cinch." l[Posdibly not the exact quote]l
