Its been about a month since ive been back from the Galapagos islands, and it feels like i'm still digesting all the amazing sights and experiences I had while I was out there. I wanted to share some of pictures I took (and I took a freaking TON) so i'm gonna go animal by animal and share the shots I really liked.
The first, and probably most recognizable animal is the Galapagos Marine Iguana! These dudes will chill out on the basalt and soak in the sunrays, until they are warm enough to hop in the ocean and feast on green algae until they are cold, then back out again, all day long. To get rid of excess salt they will snotrocket salt out of their noses!
Of all of the creatures in the Galapagos, the marine iguanas had me laughing the most, with their sometimes quizzical, sometimes grumpy expressions and salt-sneezing ways. (Fact: They expel salt from the sea water they ingest by sneezing out salt crystals – I saw this happen!) 🤓 This first photo is of the most juvenile marine iguana we saw all week, and I just love its teeny tiny ridge of spines. Such a babe! ☺️💚🌎 #galapagos#galapagosislands
