When you can’t distinguish between the ground and the iguanas. They are found only on the Galápagos Islands, marine iguanas often wear distinctive white "wigs" of salt expelled from glands near their noses.

Day 63: Count the marine iguanas. If you are visiting the Galápagos then the secluded Baquerizo Beach on San Cristóbal is definitely a must do! It's a really nice walk there with loads of Galápagos wildlife, and when you arrive you can swim with marine iguanas and giant seaturtles (bring your snorkel)! #marineiguana#sancristobal#galapagos

Marine Iguanas may look like an intimidating species, but they are actually gentle giants that survive purely off of algae and seaweed. You can find them in the Galapagos Islands probably swimming around or cuddling a sea lion. Click the link in our bio to learn more! ⠀

A Marine Iguana swimming to shore. One of the animals I was most looking forward to seeing here. It’s a shame I didn’t have my phone with me when one swam straight up to me. Was a special moment. #marineiguana#baecation
