In the waiting for our next photos of the second edition of our historical pic-nic 2018, here is a little souvenir from last year. This red velvet riding coat was made by Samuel Venière.
The "Riding coat" (which gave the word "Redingote" in French) is a coat originally worn, to go on horseback as the name suggests. In high society of the middle of the 18th century, it is very fashionable during hunting parties, often interrupted by a halt including a meal taken outdoors.
Marie Antoinette in the hands of the Revolutionary populace.........The glamorous Queen of France Marie Antoinette, in her wig, jewels and finery, struggles over her fallen panniers and foundation garments, as the revolutionary mob of peasants claw at her, and the many headed beast of “The Terror” engulfs her to her own end at the guillotine, by @alexdouglasnewton The artist writes: From fashion school.
Fashion History; 18th century
The aristocrat sits, avaricious, devouring cake as the revolution intensifies.
A thud, then a crash reverberate through the halls as her mansion is besieged by the incensed horde.
She leaps to her feet, smudging her face with saccharine pink icing and makes for the door. As she runs the peasants claw at her, stripping her of her powdered wig and jewels, tearing at her dress.
Hand embroidered pink bows fall from her engageantes and stomacher as do petals from a rose in a tempest.
She struggles to step over her fallen panniers and foundation garments as gold passementerie trails in the haste and bugle beads rain from the embroidered taffeta. The lining, now hanging onto only the strongest part of the bodice, barley covers her gossamer underclothes whilst her stays untie in the violent motion, separating, refusing any modesty she still held.
Outside the streets run blue with the blood of royals and aristocracy staining the hem and rising as it is soaked up by her pantaloons.
She passes the guillotine finding the head of her less agile friend, who, in the mobs rapacity to bring a noblewoman to justice, was not relieved of a candy pink wig and a string of pearls.
She gathers the head in her maniacal panic and continues to no avail as the many headed beast of “The Terror” engulfs her and brings her to her own end.
Marie Antoinette in modern interpretation ♡ \\ Или как выглядит реальность, когда Маша и Света в восторге от образа и дублируют все на телефон 😂
