Malaysia’s former deputy prime minister Anwar Ibrahim, jailed for sodomy four years ago, has walked free from prison after receiving a royal pardon. Anwar’s release is the first big success of the newly elected governing coalition, Pakatan Harapan, led by 92-year-old Mahathir Mohamad, which was swept from opposition into power after a shock election victory last week.
Malaysia #GE14 afterthoughts
Our parents' generation would always remember the shameful chapter of May 13 1969, but me and my peers shall remember May 9 2018 with IMMENSE PRIDE for as long as we live.
Even before #GE14#PRU14 , Malaysians of all races were pulling resources out of their own pocket to support #pulangmengundi and #CarpoolGE14 . Strangers forking out money to help those who couldn't afford to fly home, or offering car rides to balik kampung to vote.
Postal votes were sent out late (biasalah!) and again, Malaysians pull out all stops to ensure ballots reached home in time, be it handing over to a pilot who was flying home to vote, a girl who was flying home to vote and offering to bring back the postal votes, ground volunteers at airport to receive and ensure the ballots were returned to the correct constituency. AMAZING! No doubt we are a resourceful lot and we can achieve the impossible when we put our hearts and heads together.
In Harry Potter books, Dementors are 'among the foulest creatures that walk this earth. They infest the darkest, filthiest places, they glory in decay and despair, they drain peace, hope and happiness out of the air around them'
How do you fight them?
By conjuring a Patronus charm. Patronus is 'a guardian which acts as a shield between you and the Dementor. It is a kind of positive force, a projection of the very things that the Dementor feeds upon – hope, happiness, the desire to survive'
And how do you conjure it? 'With an incantation, which will work only if you are concentrating, with all your might, on a single, very happy memory'
Malaysians cast the Patronus charm on May 9 and it is forever etched in history books.
It's a new dawn for Malaysia. No doubt it will be a long road ahead for us...but whatever Dementors we face in future, we now know May 9 2018 will be our collective single happy memory to cast with conviction "EXPECTO PATRONUM"
God bless Malaysia!
A few massive changes happened over the last few days.
1. Malaysia’s opposition party had a historic victory, which overturned the governing party for the first time in the past 61 years.
2. Malaysia’s Cabinet line-up has just been released today
3. And I actually felt really proud to be a Malaysian for once.
Not exactly proud of it, but I think the measly few times I’ve been proud to be a Malaysian, are only when we’re rooting for Datuk Lee Chong Wei during Olympics badminton matches LOL and right now.
A few days ago, I was just telling my bf over FaceTime, saying how after these changes, I’m actually looking forward to leaving Aussie in two years time and returning home. And for once, I actually thought about giving back to this country that I’ve never really felt patriotic about, and thought about making an impact in the society that I’ve grown up in.
Lol tbh, these thoughts never crossed my mind before this election. Yes, I’ve wanted and thought of becoming successful and leaving a mark in the society, but not really in the Malaysian context, and most of it probably came from a more egoistic perspective. And I’m embarrassed to say that, probably never once, it came from the intention to help this country grow and become better. A lot of us are just so used to the ingrained thoughts of “Ahh it’s too hard to change things in Malaysia”; “This is just how everything is”. Well, this year’s election just prove us wrong. And I’m glad it did. It definitely made me rethink a lot of stuff, and correct my own perspectives.
It’s still gonna be a long way, but at least this is the start. And I think we’re just a bit more hopeful this time round. 🇲🇾🔥 #GE14#proudtobemalaysian#inikalilah
Sekiranya kami benar, kami betul, maka ikutlah kami. Sekiranya kami salah, maka tegurlah, bantulah dan bimbinglah kami kerana matlamat kita ialah ingin mencapai mardhatillah''.
''Saya sendiri datang seperti mana tuan-tuan juga, orang kampung. Tak pernah terpikir untuk diberikan amanah sangat berat. Saya seperti tuan, satu masa dahulu panjat pokok tampal poster.
Tuhan, jadikan aku istiqamah seperti mereka, aku mohon!
Congratulations to our new government !
Dh nak bentuk kerajaan baru dh , bahasa pulak kadang2 tak sepatutnya .
Please jaga bahasa, anda membawa imej parti kesayangan anda . Lebih2 lagi klau ada parti yg membawa dasar agama .
Mind ur words please .
Jgn jadi jebon dalam parti k ?
Ingatkan je. Hehe 😆
Im proud to be a Malaysian 🇲🇾

Hours after he was prevented from flying out of the country, former Malaysian prime minister Najib Razak announced on Saturday (May 12) that he would be stepping down from his leadership posts at the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition and its lynchpin party United Malays National Organisation (Umno) following a bruising defeat in the polls three days ago. For years the same ruling party has been in power in #Malaysia . Rampant corruption and stagnation have been the result, and today Malaysians have the opportunity to usher in a new era of change and hope that has been so elusive for all of these years. One generation has passed, and it is time for Malaysia to step into its destiny written in the heavenly books. We see parallels this year between Israel, Korea and Malaysia as all three countries have come to a point of the passing of a generation. This year is Israel’s 70 year anniversary as a nation and the moving of the U.S embassy to the capital of Jerusalem #signals a #NewEra and acceleration of the #PropheticClock of #God . In Korea, on its 70th anniversary of independence, the DMZ is being dissolved and an official declaration of peace has been issued by leaders in the North and South. These are events that many people thought would never happen, but #GodisSovereign and His will be done. Now the time has come and is here that Malaysia will no longer be ruled by corrupt officials who pay their way to leadership controlled by the whims and powers of the forces of darkness. The time is now. “See, today I appoint you over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant.” (Jeremiah 1:10). Join with us in one mind and in one #Spirit as we declare and proclaim the beginning of a new era in Malaysia, that all will know that the #KingofKings and #Lord of Lords is just that. There is #victory in the camp of the Lord!
As we all #intercede , remember the Lord tells us “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14). We also acknowledge that it is our duty to pray for our leaders and those in authority (1 Timothy 2:1-2). Furthermore we must always...
