So glad I took the time to visit @thosmoser cabinetmakers this morning. Had a great time on a tour talking machines and machining and of course hand work and tools with the guys and girls that work here. Too much going on here to put in a post by suffice to say they do beautiful work here in Maine. These craftspeople are proud of what they do and passionate about it.
Apart from the hand work that happens here I must say I was most impressed by the 5axis CR Onsrud router and that 52" Timesaver sander. But wait it's not just a sander- it's got a helical cutter head up front so you can take a 1/8" cut off a board the full machine width and it comes out the back sanded to 220 grit. 😵 Must have some biiiig ponies inside there driving it all. I saw the ammeter working real hard on start up while it made all sorts of great motor noises.
Did i mention the cap is largely finished? I just need to make a poofy ribbon to hide the obvious sewing 😁 (i dont want to call it "mistakes" or "imperfection" because they aren't. They are natural results of trying to do fine heirloom-like sewing on the machine without a lot of experience doing that fine sewing. I WILL figure out that roll hemmer some day. It got better by the last seam. Im getting there, and this is wjat my skills and health allow right now) #sewing#18thcentury#americanduchessguideto18thcenturydressmaking#cap#machinemade#handfinished
