#favoritequotes from What It Is by #lyndabarry : “But paper and ink have conjuring abilities of their own. Arrangements of lines and shapes, of letters and words on a series of pages make a world we can dwell and travel in.” ❤️📚 #bookscantakeyouanywhere @drawnandquarterly
“Combinaciones de lineas, formas y letras en una serie de páginas crean un mundo en el que podemos estar y viajar”. El poder de la escritura y el dibujo. Del libro “What it is” de Lynda Barry. Uno de mis preferidos.
Doing my own personal creative sessions. Engrossing myself in books and films about creating art. These books and films are great for understanding art and artists, why we create and how it affects those around us. Why we make art. How the people around us shape the art we make . Art is another form of communication. #art#lyndabarry#brendaueland#vivianmaier#film#creativity
Excited to get my copy of What It Is by #lyndabarry in the mail today! I love writing *and* drawing, so this book sounds ideal for stoking the flames of both passions. It also looks like the kind of book that is best read on a comfy chair at home without interruption, so I think I’ll save it for the staycation I’m planning next month. 😊📚🛋 #writinganddrawing#multipassionate#creativityinspiration @lynda_barry @drawnandquarterly
I’ve been acquiring all of Lynda Barry’s books, which I’ve wanted to do for awhile. This one came from Tacoma Goodwill by way of Amazon, and she autographed it to someone named Alan. Your book’s in a good home, Alan, wherever you may be.
Sorting thoughts and resources for a couple of upcoming writing workshops. (Alice Munro Festival of the Short Story, June 1-3; Ross Creek Centre for the Arts Teen Academies, August 6-17) #WriteOn#lyndabarry#ursulakleguin @thisispattismith @826national @rosscreek
*Comic excerpt from #LyndaBarry . OMG I love Lynda Barry. I get her books out of the library so much I need to just buy them already. I caught the shortest clip on TV recently of @skiphillart talking about how surprised he feels by the lighthearted art that often comes out of him when he doesn't always feel so "light" himself. That's a big paraphrase, but when I saw this snippet of a comic by @lynda_barry it felt in the same vein. My favorite artists have a distinct darkness to them AND yet somehow a lightness. I love sitting with them and seeing what secret messages they have to help me in my art. #thisismyrevolution#iendmysuffering
Spoon, we meet again... It might be the subject of my next concentrated practice effort because I still haven't quite grokked it.
Also, the Papermate Flair pen (in this pic used just for the borders and writing) does not get enough love. I learned about this easily available office supply pen from Lynda Barry's Syllabus, and it's my most reliable pen buddy these days. .
