2 weeks ago when I cored the Agave Isthmensis due to agave mites, I cored this #agaveblueglow too following a fungal / viral situation. Unlike the Isthmensis who had black lesions in some leaves only, this Blue Glow had yellowish / whitish discolouration on its leaves including the ones that have yet to unfold. The pattern looked similar to my sick Kisshoukan. So I guess, my take home message from this experience is - To core the virusy fungally agaves and to give those with agave mites a chance to out grow the mites situation. And probably to incorporate some sort of substance to get rid of the mites. *Just note to self and sharing for anyone who might be facing the same agave situation* πŸ˜…πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜‰ #lsyxagavecoring

Good morning 🌞 I'm wondering if I overreacted with coring this #agaveisthmensis ? πŸ™‚ This was the agave that was affected by agave mites. There were black lesions forming on new leaves as the rosette opened up. I knew nothing about agave mites. But from the looks of it externally and the pattern of black lesions, I imagined that these microscopic creatures were infested in the middle of the new leaves and eating their way inside out. Upon coring, I realised that the lesions were just on the surface of the leaves (Even those that have not unfolded). I don't know if that means agave mites are a purely external issue (And the plant will eventually outgrow it) or they spread internally like other fungal / viral conditions (Making it necessary for coring)? Anyhow... Now we sit back and wait for the pups! πŸ™„ #lsyxagavecoring

Kisshoukan update! Apologies for the clumsy video. Was trying to manoeuvre the heavy pot with one hand while holding the recorder with the other 😊 #lsyxagavecoring

Because its an agave day today πŸ˜… I finally gathered my courage to core this sick agave. Wasn't at all sure what I was doing. Got assistance from Mr. @gwsl who seems more competent at handling sharp utensils. I used mini carving tools (that has been kept in storage since it was last used for art class in secondary school... about 15 years ago). Never dreamt I would ever have a reason to use the tools again πŸ˜„. Massive thanks to everyone who shared their knowledge on this technique. Fingers crossed this was done right πŸ™ŠπŸ™‰πŸ™ˆ... And now we wait for the pupping to commence. πŸ™Œ #lsyxagavecoring
