Your preceptor is vital to your career. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This lady right here was my preceptor in my final class of nursing school, or capstone. I used to have major anxiety issues with clinicals. I remember being so scared I was going to get this super experienced, burnt out, non friendly nurse (yall know what I’m talking about lol). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But she, she was totallyyy opposite.
She was so damn funny, my anxiety immediately melted away.
She was young, and had only been a nurse for 2 years but that didn’t matter to me.
If anything, it gave me inspiration like damn, this is who I could be in just 2 years! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For 6 shifts, together we stood; side by side, deep in the bedside trenches. She showed me what nursing school never did in 18 months. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
She showed me how to be a N U R S E. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That was December 2016.
Now? After honing her skills on a tele floor, she moved on to becoming a Cardiovascular ICU nurse. Very soon, she will embark on her travel nurse goals 🙌🏽. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’ve told you a million times already and I will never get tired of saying it.
Thank you Kamila. @camcam_rn
You showed me that I CAN do this.
And now, I AM. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
