⚠️ Cutting calories! ⚠️
One of the best ways to maintain your weight loss is to make sustainable dietary changes to ensure you are not eating too many calories. Key word: SUSTAINABLE.
Is cutting out muffins, cookies , cake or any other of your favourite sweets from your diet sustainable! 🙅 NOPE.
Is depriving yourself of food for the day so you have enough calories in the budget left for that slice of cake sustainable? 🙅 NOPE.
If you want long term weight loss maintenance, you need to learn how to trick the system 😏
For people like me who don't want to give up their sweets 🍫🍪🍦, making very simple substitutions can do wonders!
For example, whenever I bake, I almost always substitute oil/butter with equal amounts of unsweetened applesauce and my cakes come out just as moist, flavourful and they even have that extra hint of apple flavour #notmad ! 🍎🍏🍎
This way, I can save myself close to 1000 calories (that's a solid ~100 calories off each slice you eat!) #winning 🏆
You don't have to eat boring, flavourless foods and cut out desserts to hit your calorie and macronutrient goals. Just make smart decisions when cooking, take advantage of the available substitutions and eat guilt-free! 💁♀️

The "low fat" craze started in 1976 when a senator raised attention to the relationship between diet and heart disease. He called a hearing on Capitol Hill to hear from experts about the potential harm in consuming fats. Unfortunately, due to lack of sufficient data, researchers in the 1970's did not fully understand the link between fat and heart disease. Out of this hearing was birthed the first set of U.S. dietary guidelines. Some of the recommendations were to eliminate fat and eat more carbs. Unfortunately, this created a frenzy in the food industry with the creation of "fat free" products that were loaded with sugar. Subsequently, Americans also began to eat more refined grains and sugar as their daily source of carbs. The result from this shift in diet was an increase in obesity and diabetes. It is now understood by researchers that reducing fat will not result in weight loss or a decrease in heart disease. Instead, Americans are recommended to add healthy fats like olive oil, coconut oil, grass fed butter, avocados, etc. to their daily diets.⠀
