When I first started doing yoga circa 2004, it was a pure physical practice. Another workout to complement the cardio, weight training and step aerobics at the gym.
The longer I practiced yoga, the more I started to notice the self awareness it evoked. I started to make the connection between mind and body, experiencing how the physical practice could bring so much peace to my mind and how the breathing and mindfulness practice could bring so much peace to my body.
I also came to realise that yoga is not just about asana (poses). It is much more than that. It is about what we learn from the challenges we experience on the mat, and how we can use that wisdom to inform our life off the mat.
It is about practicing breath control and increasing concentration and training the mind so that we can feel peaceful despite the outer chaos of life.
I don't strive to be the most flexible or strongest yogini who can contort my body into impressive shapes. But I do strive to continually break through my own barriers, both in mind and body, with greatest emphasis on the mind and spirit.
And this journey - the practice and the work, not the end pose - has brought so much peace where it wasn't before. What does yoga bring you?
If you don’t practice anything else from this programme I would definitely wish for you to do this 💕🌸💕 .
Day 10 and this meditation is a perfect way for you to treat yourself on a Saturday!
Loving Kindness meditation is one of my most favourite meditations. Used in Buddhist traditions this powerful meditation can be life changing if practiced regularly. Loving Kindness meditation will help you to cultivate unconditional love for yourself and all beings. It had been proven to increase brain structure in the area of the brain known for compassion, empathy and emotional processing. How fantastic is that! This is such a powerful and amazing meditation. 🌸
1. Find a quiet comfortable space where you won’t be disturbed and set a timer for around 15/20 minutes.
2. Begin to focus on your breathing for a few moments to settle in and relax your body.
3. Silently repeat the following mantra to yourself in your mind. (Write this down if you need it to help you remember at first)
May I be happy
May I be healthy
May I be safe
May I live with ease
4. Repeat this for a little while.
5. Bring to mind a loved one and repeat the phrases for them; next a neutral person (somebody you don’t know that well); next bring to mind somebody who you sometimes struggle with; and finally and my favourite, because this feels so lovely and powerful, bring to mind all beings everywhere and repeat the phrases:
May all beings be happy
May all beings be healthy
May all beings be safe
May all being live with ease.
6. Take some time on each focus and really try and feel the person you are thinking about.
This meditation can sometimes be quite emotional so just be kind to yourself. 💕
From around the world, leaders of the world’s major religious traditions came together on Greenland, as part of the @peacepledgeproject to pray, celebrate, meditate and pledge to work together based on the principle that Loving-Kindness and Compassion can overcome discord and lead to human unity and peace.
Inuit Eskimo Elder Angaangaq Angarkkorsuaq @angaangaq said: “It is the human heart which needs to melt. This is a priority if we are to stop the melting of our mother ice.” They pledged to share a Peace Pledge [www.peacepledgeproject.org] with world leaders, the @unitednations, religious leaders, Parliamentarians, and billions of people inviting them to join the affirmation of the necessity and supreme importance of Loving-Kindness, Compassion, Forgiveness and Reconciliation. This simple truth they believe is transformative and universal.

We have so much more love in us then what we show and give to the world. Give and and show a little more!😇💫💕
Instead of looking tired, irritated or upset, give a smile. Instead of feeling angry or annoyed with someone, smile at them. Treat them with kindness. Not just your loved one, but also strangers. All the people you bump into today, treat them with kindness and happiness💕🙏 This returns back to you. Have a beautiful saturday!🌷🙏☺️

A deep truth from one of the world’s great thought leaders. ✨
Think of how different the world would look if we all went in search of ourselves in this way. It may not be our reality now, but we can make this a reality for our kids.
The question is, how humble can we allow ourselves to be? How wide can we open our minds? How spacious are our hearts? How big are we willing to draw the circle around our own family, and what we call truth??
I got to the end of the Joy Practices & turned the bookmark that has accompanied my reading for months - simply because it was already in this Book of Joy when I started. Knowing that this same book has accompanied my bestie @jasminez_t during one of her business travels almost a year ago, I can’t stop smiling. With this comes my deepened realization that too many of us think compassion drains us, but I promise you it is something that truly enlivens us. So if you can, practise compassion with every person that you cross paths with today. Feel that light, that warmth and that smile gleaming from your heart 💗🌈🌟
I feel grounded. Happy. Rooted. I have so many wonderful things in my life at the moment, and I am grateful. I know that everything is impermanent, so I will try not to cling to these things. Right now they just are, and I am trying to rest and be present in the moment.in every moment. Also when things change, like sooner or later they inevitably will do.
I am greatful to have my friends. I am greatful to have found taji, and to get lessons from an amazing teacher every week. I am greatful to have a soulmate with whom I can enjoy and practice taiji, and more importantly love. I am greatful to have found a path, and to have a wise and compassionate teacher to help guide me as I walk it. I am greatful to have a job where I learn something new every day. I am greatful to be alive at this moment in time, where there is so much good and kindness in the midst of all the pain and chaos in the world.
There is so much warmth in my heart today. So much love for everything and everyone on this strange little planet. And I am slowly learning to include myself in that love. Because we are all one. I experienced this in a profound way today. I am part of everything. There are no barriers, other than the ones that I create. And I am starting to see them for what they are, and be able to just be. In the moment. I just am. And I love.
Self-compassion is drinking tea in a sunbeam. This week I’m seeking out a lot of sunbeams and drinking a lot of tea.
Whenever we’re going through big stuff we tend to think we need to do something big to move through it. My experience is that I need to do less and be more. I love myself and honour my process by making space for the little nourishing practices that take care of my heart...tea, sunbeams, naps, the sound of the river, solitude... Anything that creates a safe space to feel fully and unconditionally allows for the processing and digesting of whatever is coming up. It’s coming up because you’re ready. As I clear and heal whatever layer is coming up to be cleared and heal, I feel more spacious, open, and more connected to the ground of being, to myself, and to life.
Take the time you need to feel what needs to be felt. Hold compassionate space for your evolution. You deserve all the tenderness in the world. X
Let’s face it: we could all use a little more patience. When there’s an obstacle between something we need or want, especially if we’re experiencing discomfort or stress, we are not the calmest creatures. (Elisha Goldstein)
Many times we are our worst enemy. If we could learn to conquer ourselves, then we will have a much easier time overcoming the obstacles that are in front of us. (Stephan Labossiere)
Wishing you peace and wellbeing as you pause, slow down, giving yourself a better chance to see what options are available for you to choose in the moment.
PS: Remember to hold the ones you love just a little closer and tighter this week (without expectations). #yourstorymatters#lovingkindness#compassion#basicgoodness#leanin#spiritualjunkie#spiritualsawakening#workingwithstrongemotions#obstacles#overcomingobstacles
If you feel lost, alone, and confused breathe in and feel the Great Mother’s love enter your heart. You are evolving, I am evolving, we as a collective are evolving. It is messy and chaotic, it does not feel comfortable. It is necessary. Treat yourself with as much loving kindness and compassion as you possibly can, and know that you are not alone.

Look for the space and you will discover presence.
• between words
• between your breath in and out
• between your thoughts
Such a beautiful thing to discover... you are in control of where you focus your attention. Choose the space🙏
Sittin here in my kitchen in sweats, listenin’ to the Eagles 🦅, drinking hot tea, & researching some vintage car titles.
Grateful just about sums it up 🙏🏼💖 Is everything perfect?! Fuck no 😂
Blessings?! Too many to count. ✨✨
Our ability to see beyond someone’s outer appearance, race, gender, sexuality, or political beliefs, and see their essence lies within the heart.
Our world deeply needs people to live more fully from the heart and practice unity instead of separation.
You have an opportunity to anchor yourself into this ‘way of being’. A ‘way of being’ that brings peace to you and all those around you. Living in your Light inspires others to do the same...
Chasing, chasing, chasing ... after ideals, away fears, hope.
One of the least important things we all chase is appearances. Tapping into my source helps me to stop worrying about mundanities like body rolls. •
I am fat. Period. No need for “and it’s okay” to complete the sentence. It’s neither good or bad, it just is. Am I healthy? Am I happy? These are more important things to consider.
“Attention without kindness is warfare” I find this quote from Pema Chodren very powerful. I’m on my MBSR teaching retreat at the mo and yesterday we focused on the loving kindness practice, how to lead it and why it’s such an important part of being mindful or really just being. Being with others but also being with ourselves. Living with ourselves and others can be exhausting and frustrating and painful when we don’t bring kindness into the mix. Cultivating an attitude of loving kindness and compassion is a game changer. It’s easy to bring it to those we love and feel warmth too but where the rubber really hits the road is bringing it to those we find difficult and challenging. The antidote to hate, anger and frustration isn’t more of the same it’s actually the opposite. I’m not Yoda - all this has been taught to me by far wiser people and i have to work at it everyday - somedays I nail it and some days I don’t, but I keep working at it. Showing kindness to myself has been the hardest but It’s getting easier for sure. The loving kindness Mediation used to be a real block for me - I disliked it and couldn’t do it. I kept at it though and now it’s one of my faves. I took this pic of a tree I discovered on the grounds of the retreat - check out the leaves - little hearts 💕 - isn’t nature awesome. #mindfulness#lovingkindness#ahimsa#bekind#mbsr#teachertraining#retreat#bionicyogini#beingwith
These are the three words that came to me at the end of my meditation this morning after asking for guidance to my higher self.
Calm - mind.
Kind - heart.
Collected - spirit.
In the midst of some inner chaos, not knowing which next step to take, giving in to fear and doubt, it helped me breathe.
And with the breath came clarity.
And then I knew what to do.
For me meditation always, always, always brings more clarity, not always of the mind not always crystal clear, but always it brings inner space through which the voice of truth can be released.
And today was a good day because I heard my truth loud and clear.
Wishing that for you too today sisters, and would love to hear about how you listen to your own truth too! Please share ❤
