Some of my favourite people. We are all working together, creating good health for families, freedom for our families, and this night we were celebrating xmas and wrapping gifts for a special family in Nanaimo!!!!! Love you girls!!!!
I had an active website and an Etsy account. I have done multiple shows and markets in various cites, trying so hard to “make it happen.” I submitted my work to every venue and gallery I could find, meeting with anyone that could see me. I did commissions I didn’t love and made art I thought other people would like. Everything I made came with the thought: “people would buy this.” What emerged was a body of work that meant nothing to me. I was financially in the red and it was ‘do this or fail.’
My mind and ambition collapsed; my passion died. Nearly three years passed. I tried to produce work but my heart wasn’t in it. I thought I was lost. This was who I’ve always been, all I ever was. Who was I if I wasn’t an artist?
My environment changed and something sparked. A long lost love was reunited and I became flooded with ideas unlike anything I’ve created before. Something crawled from my darkest corners and I made the choice to nurture it. Now I create what I want. If anything I do speaks to someone, I’m happy. If it doesn’t, I can at least live out my days doing what I love.
Even if your calling seems irrelevant, keep doing it. Do what you love. Don’t count on others for validation. Make something. Someone will always love what you make. Someone will always hate what you make.
Run towards the light. There are so many bright things on the horizon - I can hardly wait to get there. This past week has been filled with work on new and ongoing projects that have me jazzed up. And running, always running. 🌌🤘 #grindharder#loveyourwork#exploretocreate 📷@carehighman
🎄 The Business Advent Calendar: 20 Tips for the Self Employed Boss Woman… 👉🏼 TIP #12 : YOU DON’T “GET” CLIENTS, YOU CREATE THEM
For all you peeps in service-based businesses, I really want you to hear this.
Clients are created. They’re not ‘got’. And what I mean by that, is that the “creating” aspect of it is entirely up to us. You don’t need a degree or certificate to do that.
Creating clients (ideally, ideal clients) is dependant on connection (not squirrelling ourselves away) , rapport, listening. All those attributes are an intrinsic part of what it is to be human. That’s sales 101.
It’s tempting to think we can chuck ads into the digital stratosphere and people (ideal clients, mind) with wallets open will land in our laps, ready to do business - but rarely does that work.
Because even when peeps come into our sphere via funnels like ads and opt-ins - or a referral even - the most important part of client creation is our ability to connect, relate and serve. And it most certainly requires us to be ourselves if we want to work with people who are the best fit for us.
Can you feel that, entrepreneur? 🏹♥️
The Devote 2018 Christmas Party: paint, (LOTS of) bruises, SEAL Team Six teamwork and memories for months to come. 🎨😂 A night of paintball was the perfect refresh after having ridden a massive wave of growth, coupled with the busiest eCommerce/retail time of the year (our partners are seeing minimum 50% growth right now!). Bring on Christmas, Boxing Day & the new year!

This 1971 Porsche 911T has been a big fun job, and we look forward to the next one. This car was done completely in house (except for the media blasting) there are some great vendors in the Porsche world.
Thanks @restorationdesign1 @aasesales @stoddardporscheparts @glasurit_official @basfrefinish and a big thanks to Travis Dayley our paint rep who has a great eye and love for quality!
Ok - this isn’t my “norm” but I had a lot of fun with Caleb at Pilsen Photo Co-op working on some new headshots....so I thought I would share.
Especially because when I was at Orangetheory yesterday and one of my friend’s daughters saw me there yesterday and said I looked “calm”. Really? I’m there working out like a fiend and I look calm????
Anyway, after looking at these photos I know why! Love your what you do and never work a day in your life!!!!
