There are so many things which we adore about a life without school. One of them being the experiences they have and the people they mix with. We want our children to learn from hands on quality experiences and to be around people of all ages. They mix with a wide range of children & people - all who are so wonderful to share their knowledge and experience with them in a very natural way 💚💚
Another thing we've been up to today is a bit of landscape maintenance - shovelling gravel up and filling in a couple of pot holes and sweeping up leaves - not all of them as there's a lot out there at the moment! 🍃
It was good to get outdoors today after being in yesterday. It's been gorgeous weather today hasn't it. The sun definitely makes you feel good! These dark mornings and evenings can be gloomy!
One of the things we've been busy doing today is lopping branches and then building a fence with them.
Been to Weston Park today and picked up a leaflet with mine and John Horton’s exhibition in it. So exciting to see it in print. The cover painting is one of John’s called ‘Tumbling Choughs’. It makes a great cover image. www.johnhorton.co.uk www.christinahopkinsonfineart.com @thewildlifetrusts @rspb_love_nature @rosemarybrushes @greatart_uk @finearttradeguild @paintersonline @btobirds @rspca.stapeley @associationofanimalartists @westonparkofficial #watercolourpaint#exhibition#birds#ducks#watercolor#water#watercolour#feathers#lovewildlife#wildlife
The regal fritillary, Speyeria idalia, makes its home in the few remaining tallgrass prairies of the United States. Due to habitat loss, the species is threatened. Attempts are being made at breeding these in captivity for repopulation; however, the regal fritillary is quite prone to viruses which spread within captive populations much easier than in the wild.
Winter is a brilliant time of year to spot our smallest bird - the tiny Goldcrest! 💛
British Goldcrests rarely migrate but we get an influx from colder parts over these months.
Listen out for their high pitched calls and a flash of gold in their preferred pine and fir trees as they pick insects and spiders off the trees
This photo is emotional for me. This sums up pretty much how it is outside of the big citys in Andalucia, Spain. Dogs (and other animals) that is in really bad shapes kept in peoples backyards. Since I started working with the Strays down in Spain I have seen a lot of bad things. Things that no one wants to see...
I gave this poor dog food everyday one week when I was there in September. Threw food over the fence, She was in really bad shape and I cross my fingers that she is still alive today. I will go there next time I am down and see if she is. My heart is always with the strays, even when I am home! 🧡
I guess I've mastered a little my needle felting skills but clay sculpting is something totally different.
Self doubt is constantly here when clay sculpting and painting this part of a new mixed media wall art. At times I thought that I've come too far with my expectations of creating my ideas.. But I must admit that slowly and steadily it's getting to what I've imagined. And getting to be ready for it's woolen 'coat' #challengingmyself
I was thrilled when I got to see this handsome duck for the second time this year! In fact, this male Teal was one of more than ten that I saw on my nature reserve walk at the beginning of December, despite them being residents in the Midlands throughout the year. This male seemed to be on guard as the female got into the water first. What a gentleman!
Wednesday wildlife. GreaterGliders... a closeup of one of the artworks in my 2019 Calendar - Australian wildlife (amongst the trees).
The greater glider is the largest of the glider species in Australia and occurs down the east coast of Australia in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria. This threatened species is also the most variable in their colouration, ranging from a light grey almost white colour to a very dark sooty grey. The greater glider requires large tree hollows (and hence mature forests) and has a specialised diet feeding almost exclusively on eucalyptus leaves.
