It’s only fair that I share Czr’s story too, right? So, without getting too detailed, Czr was pretty much a surprise: his dad showed up with him as this lil nugget here, introduced him as my son & the rest is history 🤷♀️ not as inspiring as Via, I know... but he was the first “big” dog I ever owned; honestly, I didn’t know if I’d be a good dog mom: our smaller breed pets we had when I was growing up definitely had behavioural issues. But... I had a bearded dragon that was potty trained, would play fetch & wave hi/bye so I guess I’ve always had fun & pushed boundaries with training. I started my psyc degree, fell in love with learning theory/behaviorism & started applying it to Czr (that’s where I started teaching him how to use yes). We only started working on “no” probably a year or so after & over the years have just continued building vocabulary (full book on his training will be out in 2019). He’s the smartest dog I know (all bias aside), 20-30 minutes is all you really need to teach him something. Will be 11 in January, but still my baby 🖤
THE COOKIE CHRONICLES
Season 2; Episode 4 🍪
Hello and happy Thursday! This week's adventure was totally NatGeo Wild!! We began our trek into the woods early in the morning. As we were approaching a pond along the path, we noticed a Great Blue Heron standing like a statue in the water. We slowly crept around the pond, and gave the majestic Heron a wide berth so as not to frighten him. As we were passing, he crouched down close to the water. My naive personal assistant thought he was trying to camouflage himself, but I knew better. Seconds later, his head darted into the water like a spear and he acquired his morning meal. It was startling and exciting at the same time! He walked away to savor his catch in peace and we continued on our hike. When we returned, he was standing on the shoreline of the pond. He turned, looked us over, and then immediately took flight. It was incredible! The Great Blue Heron's wingspan averages 6 feet! We were completely in awe of him. What a thrilling adventure we had today! 🐦
