Throw Shine ✨ The world needs more kindness! You’ll never know how simple acts of kindness can change someone’s day! Whether it’s offering a helping hand, opening a door, or just simply flashing a smile, it can really turn someone’s day around!
O amor muda tudo!

Thank you @thedenverchannel for covering my story and promoting mental health awareness! Check it out tonight on Denver 7 (time TBD) and come out to the fundraiser between 6-10. And thanks to the coolest camera man ever who has even covered stories in the Himalayas.
The holiday season is upon us if you haven’t noticed all the lights and holiday decor already up. It’s my favorite time of year actually. It’s because I enjoy giving to others. It makes me happy to see them happy. Giving doesn’t have to mean actual items, you can do so by giving a complement or helping out. So why not #ThrowShine and spread some positivity this holiday season?
The 3x3 cube was a piece of cake compared to this. You just have to stay with it long enough for success. You really can do it if you want something enough and have the support of friends.

TRIGGER WARNING: discussing binge eating + bulimia
I remember being about 11 or 12 years old and grabbing at my thighs one day in disgust. I distinctly remember wishing I could cut all of the fat off of them after a boy at school compared mine to another girl in my class. They took their hands and measured how small hers were compared to mine and laughed at me. I remember laughing with them because I was so uncomfortable. And I remember never looking at my thighs the same way again.
Over the years, my body size was used as a way for others to hurt me. To take a stab right at my heart. I had gone through a deeply traumatic experience the years leading up to this and had been using food to sooth my aching heart. Not having the tools to express my pain but feeling the immediate comfort of a full belly, hugging me from the inside.
I would hide food in my room and binge eat alone within an hour of me eating a full dinner. I would punish myself by trying to skip breakfast when I didn’t think anyone would notice, then try to skip lunch but fail, cycle into guilt and then repeat the process of eating for comfort again the same night. Looking back, I witnessed this pattern on and off for nearly 12 years.
It wasn’t until my first real heartbreak that I took this pattern to a whole new level. Still craving the comfort of food, but desperately grasping at wanting my body to shrink, I dove quickly into binge eating and bulimia.
In the first few months, people were praising me for losing the weight. I called it the breakup diet and no one even batted an eye. Everyone around me was telling me how beautiful I looked, how thin I was, and without intention, fed into the viscous cycle I created.
This pattern continued for another 3-4 years before I finally broke down and got the help I needed. I have been deep in my healing since 2013, unravelling the conditioning that programmed me into thinking that I needed to be thin to be loved. Unpacking the deep unexpressed emotions that fed the eating disorders and lack of self worth.
In all honesty, it may take me a lifetime to unpack it all. My commitment to my Self is unwavering.
I am here
I am home.

We need a reunion...soon. #throwshine#loveislouder @3musketeers
for the final day of #LoveisLouder Active Minds at UT says “Love is Louder than Stigmas. Stigmas hold people back, and most of the time aren’t true. We shouldn’t be ashamed to talk about mental health because of the stigmas attached to it, as mental illness is nothing to be ashamed about”
❄️I’m so excited that we have a big yard for the kids to play in this winter! There’s even a little slope in the backyard perfect for sled riding at their age. 🛷
I get REALLY excited for winter & the holidays but I KNOW that once the holidays are over, I’ll be yearning for summer and having a hard time getting through the dark days. 😢
However, this year I have a plan. A plan to stay as active as possible, to try to enjoy the snow as much as I can and to realize that every season has an end. 🌈 keep that in mind when the days feel too cold and short. The sun will always return. ☀️
VERY IMPORTANT CAPTION CONTEST ALERT!!! It's time for Wingly's 7th Annual #WingnutsMeowyCatsmess card-sending campaign for #OperationSpreadWarmFuzzies and we need your help! We've got our Artistic Director, Ava Olsen and her intern, Cameron Olsen from @soadercat , working hard on making the final picture selections for Wingly's cards this year, but we need YOUR help in writing the card's caption.
It's very simple: just submit a friendly, non-political/denominational caption here on IG or FB. It should reflect cheer, goodwill, and that fact that Wingly is looking for... SOMETHING (note these pics are NOT necessarily the ones that will be on the cards, but certainly represent what will) and/or just overall "we're in this together"ness.
Winning caption wins $50 to their favorite animal rescue, bragging rights and IG/FB/Twitter shout-out for you AND your rescue. In the event of a tie/caption mashup, $25 to each winner's rescue + the rest. This contest is open INTERNATIONALLY. You are welcome to share/repost this. Please get captions in by 12pm PST this Sunday, 11/18/18, winner(s) will be ameownced later that day.
Also, if you would like to receive a card from Wingnut, AND/OR if you know someone else who is in need of warm fuzzies this season, please DM us your/their address, even if you think we have it from a previous year. It doesn't matter where in the world you live- we will mail it to you- NO strings attached & NOTHING expected in return, except knowing that we were successful in spreading warm fuzzies to you.
Okay, let's do this!
Ok, you can earn donations for #LoveisLouder programs by simply being nice to people you already like. Give someone a compliment on Instagram or tell them why you appreciate them. Post a pic of them or record a quick video “throwing shine” at them and then post with tags #ThrowShine @LoveisLouder & @3Musketeers. Then 3 Musketeers will make a donation to #LoveisLouder . If you don’t do it, the bad guys win.
We have moments where we want to take a break from life, from the stress, from our struggles. Times where we think of having a vacation to relax or a brief time just to allow ourselves to breathe again and even think.
Me? I have quite a lot of these moments.
What I do aside from listening to music, is taking a walk or being close to nature. It really helps when I need to relax and stay calm. I really don't know why, but looking at nature nourishes my soul. Maybe because I'm a big nature lover.
My favorite view is when the sun is setting. It gives me hope, that not all endings is a bad one, that it can be beautiful too. You just have to look on a different perspective. That there will always be tomorrow, a new day, new chances or new life.
Pressing pause or giving yourself a time alone and learning how to look on different perspectives can help us enhance our resiliency. So if you never tried these two things, go on give it a try. Give yourself a me time, go for a walk or hike, or just have an adventure close to mother nature. Because I'm telling you, it isn't just a wonderful experience, it's a fulfilling one.
