This little pig slammed my loon Whopper plopper, had a pretty deep hook set and he bled a little bit but swam away strong so I'm hoping he lived was for sure a fighter! I thought it was going to be twice this size the way it stripped my drag and ran down into the weeds 🤘🎣
This spring, Western NY had a Loon fallout! A Bird fallout is the result of bad weather preventing migratory birds from reaching their destination. It is also speculated that their ponds that they migrate to we're still frozen. So what does this mean for Buffalo? Normally we get a small handful of loons during migration. This year we had hundreds of not thousands! Their magestic call filled the air at hoytt lake during sunset, they took over the nfta boat harbor, and they were even seen in small ponds at Reinstine woods. It was incredible! Bonus fact: loons cannot walk on land. Their legs are positioned on the back of their body. Unfortunately this event caused many of them to become land locked, which either resulted in injury or death. :/ Bonus happy fact: during this fallout I counted 74 loons in one small place, 30 horned grebes, and just over a break wall there were 20+ snowy owls!
