Tight upper traps?
Here’s a little trick I use in the gym to release my upper traps.
Using a squat rack i put a weight plate on one side of the bar.
Lift the weighted side of the bar off while keeping the opposite side in the rack
Resting the bar on my upper traps while letting my arm on the side I’m working on hang down.
I use my hand on the other side to roll the bar up and down my trap stopping at any tight spots and just holding until it releases.
You can also drop your chin to chest rotating away to increase the stretch.
Move Better! Perform Better! Feel Better! Live Better!
No real coincidence I pulled this card at this time this morning. I am a bit of a broken woman today.
Everything hurts. I’ve pushed myself hard this week with 4 workout sessions and not enough down time in between.
My days off were spent networking and meeting with people, which is a huge energy exchange for me and has left me totally exhausted.
Today I just want to hibernate. However life calls and so does work so I am going to put my best foot forward and March on.
My body is craving rest, so tonight I will honour this by taking time out, doing some much needed yoga and having some me time (hard in the hostel but I will find a quiet spot to sit for sure!) Until then- let’s do this Friday 🤘
#tip27 Find yourself some comfort. Yeah that’s ice cream 🍦 Blackcurrant and vanilla, Sainsbury’s ‘Taste the Difference,’ ‘cuz I’m posh innit? Now, I’m not a comfort eater, in fact, I’m quite the opposite and rarely have an appetite atm, but it’s important to be mindful of all the little things that take the edge off when you feel a little bit defeated. When you get to that point of that day where your leading thought is “fuck this, I’m done” and you could quite easily just pile in to bed in your clothes, try to resist. We sleep better when we are less stressed, and having a bit of a wind down before bed isn’t always the “half hour of self healing followed by a green tea and some stretches” these hipster types would have you believe. Make it easy; think of things that bring you comfort- A spot of what you fancy? 🍪 Warm drink? ☕️ A bit of music? 🎶 Relaxing shower? 🚿 Horribly overpowering incense stick? Point is, when the day has you beaten, still try to finish it on your own terms. Don’t let exhaustion, pain or general feelings of malaise stop you from completing your daily mission to be in control from beginning to end. I’ve opted for my bed, a huge oversized jumper, this posh ice cream and Chewie and I are having our 1 to 1 evening bitchfest. #tomorrowisanewday#positivity#keepgoing#bekindtoyourself#comfort#treats#mindfulness#focus#control#routine#mentalhealthmatters#mentalhealthawareness#chronicpain#tiredness#youcandoit#icecream#chewbacca#silliness#lookafteryourself#cutyourselfsomeslack#sainsburys#tastethedifference#starwars#comfortbears
The number one cause of ageing is the sun, please make sure you have SPF in your foundation or moisturiser. You can also use a sunscreen in the morning before you start your daily routine. Remember the sun doesn't have to be out for our skin to feel the impact of the rays.
~Self care~both mentally and physically is something I’ve neglected since having kids. I always put myself at the bottom of the list, if on the list at all. 🤷♀️ mentally iv suffered. Since making an active change to my mindset, I’ve noticed my feelings for myself grow. It’s a daily battle of wills and most days I don’t succeed but the will is there and the days I do succeed are enough to keep me trying!
Happy international yoga day! .

#wellnesswednesday is here! What are you doing today to look after your health? I'm looking forward to squash tonight with a new partner. I've seen her play other racquet sports, I could be in trouble lol
Have a fabulous day everyone! ♥
