winter solstice is a high potency moment of the year
it’s the longest night; the deep dark womb of the year where all the seeds may be planted
afterwards, we begin our slow turn back towards the light
this is a great time to cast your heart vision into the cauldron of manifestation ◼️

Lovely feedback from Christine @kokoro.inspired.living for the Friday lunchtime #scaravelliinspired yoga class at @thelifecentre Islington, which is every Friday, 12:30-1:45pm. This is a relatively new class, we're two months in, and have a regular crew already! Would be great to see you there soon. ✨
Rinsing it all out on the mat with this little Tripsichore move that I taught my Air Mandala yogis @kindredyogalife this morning. One of the things I love so much about teaching is the freedom it gives me to be creative, think on the spot and read the energy and vibe of the yogis in the room. Thank you to my @kindredyogalife fam for trusting and allowing me that freedom! 🙏🏼💘🌿
HIPS DON’T LIE! 💃🏽 Why is opening your hips and working on your mobility is so important? 💃🏽 We sit too much! Our hips haven’t been created for sitting, they were created for movement, jumping, squatting and taking pressure off your spine. 💃🏽 Sitting impacts our hip mobility in a bad way. It weakens our glutes and shortens our hip flexors. Both your glutes and your hip flexors figure prominently in the the activation of your hips, so when they are weak or inactive the lower back takes over. 💃🏽 Simple as that, if you struggle with lower back pain, maybe it’s the time for a mobility routine that will open up your hips and strengthen your glutes and hip flexors.
In London, 9,000 people sleep rough on any given night and 42,000 others are in emergency accommodation every night (like hostels and night shelters). I'm volunteering with @crisis_uk in Hackney this Christmas and we are helping to put on some lovely food and activities for peeps with nowhere to go during the festive period •
If you have some spare dollar please could you head to **THE LINK IN MY BIO** to donate and read about what Crisis do at Christmas and throughout the year to end homelessness •
AND if you don't have spare dollar, but do have spare towels or toiletries like soap and shampoo etc and live in London, please shout and I can come and collect from you because WOW you know how lovely a hot, warm shower is on a cold day #CrisisXmas #🍑
Set goals, smash them.
My goal setting for 2019 has begun. Focus on what you want to achieve, fully understand the WHY behind doing it, and make the conscious decision to see it through.
If you want to set yourself a new health or fitness goal, don’t wait for the ‘New Years resolution’ hype to kick in, start thinking about it now. By January - you’ll be super motivated to start putting it into action.
Contact firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange a January trial session @bodystudio Shoreditch. No gym membership required.

V sit hold to victory.
On the path to developing a solid foundation for movement, practicing the V-sit can help address common issues in several key areas of the body. ————————————————————————
In this exercise a straight-leg hip flexion is held in combination with scapular retraction and depression. ————————————————————————
This shows ⤵️⤵️⤵️⤵️
1️⃣ Good posterior chain mobility and flexibility through the back of the legs.
2️⃣healthy strong protected shoulders.
3️⃣strong compression force through anterior chain. (hips and abdominals)
4️⃣protected spine in both thoracic (upper) and lumbar (lower) regions.
All combined give great bang for buck in a single exercise.
Try this ➡️Fully retract the shoulder blades.
In most people, the abdominals will release and the low back will extend (arch), this will be the same for many shoulder movements. ————————————————————————
You should be able to maintain lumbar (low spine) stability through all the different shoulder movements. ————————————————————————-
Left unchecked these types of deficits are precursors to numerous dysfunctions in the shoulders and spine, limiting your ability to move with quality, lift heavier weight and increase risk of injury. ————————————————————————
V sit and the training towards it is an excellent tool for overcoming these issues, restoring and improving the bodies natural synchronicity and balance. ————————————————————————-
LIVING WITH A OPEN HEART ❤️ Regardless of how much you celebrate this festive season or what you celebrate (Hannukah, Christmas, Winter Equinox...), you could say there is a certain loving and compassionate feeling in the air, perhaps drawn from the numerous family and friends gatherings, the reflections of a year that is about to end and the good intentions we are pinning down for the new year.
What if we were able to carry with this feeling all year long?
What does it mean for you to live with an open heart?
Open to give but also open to receive? Some of us are better givers than receivers - you could say society sometimes doesn't recognise the fact that, like everything, life is balanced - how could we keep giving away but not replenishing ourselves and permitting others the joy of giving away?
How much are you protecting yourself from being hurt, not accepted or not feeling at all?
Here is an invitation for you to trust. First, to trust your resilience, your wisdom, worth and value to be loved, appreciated and acknowledged. Then, trust in life, universe and the perfect unfolding of events that will lead your way. Trust in others and reach out when you need help. They will have your back. If you fully understand that, everything starts in us and is wonderfully interconnected, there is nothing to be worried about.
To physically practice the opening of the heart - and slowly increasing the natural flow of receiving / giving, here is one of my favourite asanas - a variation of hero (Virasana) / camel (Ustrasana) + prep for supta virasana (reclining hero). Gently start opening your chest, lifting your chin while taking your hips slightly back. You could stay here or gradually taking your upper body towards the floor for a full expression of Supta Virasana - be mindful as it's a rather intense pose - please use props!
Have a lovely weekend all.
Love & light,
Is it really so wild to move straight into the heart of each other? What if it wasn’t? What if we could be radically open and trusting with people we only just met. What if we could close our eyes and fall head over heels, only to open them and see that any other way would be a dream? **** “This love is a deep and simple recognition, something intuitively knowing and meeting itself in each experience, in each being, and in each pair of eyes. It meets itself in everything that happens. It’s the love simply for the fact that there’s anything happening at all, because that’s the real miracle.” Adyashanti.————————————————————————- **** To be accepted in our wholeness melts away the fear of strangeness and coils us into each other’s arms. It is in the held intimacy of a retreat, training or immersion that we can see and be seen, in ways that might otherwise take years of relating. This is part of our intention for curating Samavesa. To create a loving container where we can widen the family into community, which then ripples out into the world. ————————————————————————**** We have a handful of non-residential spaces left, if you would like to grow the family a little bigger <3

I haven’t been spending as much time on my mat as I usually do, with Christmas around the corner (and my wedding 3 days after 😱!) ...but that’s alright 😌trying not to think about what I should or shouldn’t be doing, but rather doing what I want to, and this month that means a lot of mat time has been swapped for Christmas movie time on our sofa! Usually my routine is based around the word “should”, it is also how my brain operates, I know exactly what I should be doing/eating/achieving ect, and whenever I do something I “shouldn’t” I feel a little guilty. Kind of self imposed should and shouldn’t rules. But for the next couple of weeks I am not allowing the word “should” into my vocabulary. It’s amazing how much pressure one word carries. #livingroomyoga#should#loveandalliscoming
Dolphin pose - such a simple yet effective way to build strength and work on your flexibility. It’s amazing how you can transform your body without even leaving your living room 🙌🏻 no fancy equipment, no expensive memberships 👌🏻#livingroomyoga#noequipmentneeded#dolphinpose
It’s important to be able to spend time in stillness. I’m trying to be more mindful of my need to constantly move, always thinking and rushing onto the next thing, the next pose. My focus recently has been to try and learn to sit in certain poses and observe how they feel, observe my own need to move, need to fidget or wiggle. I find that even when I find stillness in my body I move my eyes, even if they are closed, they are still moving. Seems like such a simple task, being still and observing yet somehow it is one of the most difficult things for me. How do you find stillness? #stillness#livingroomyoga#yoga
Who are you getting strong and flexible for? Why do you step on your mat? If you could dedicate your practice to anyone who would it be? ... I’m getting strong and flexible for MYSELF. It’s how I show myself and my body love, dedicating time to being healthy, strong and mindful, it’s how I practice self-love. You can dedicate your practice to anyone, and day to day that dedication can change, but by asking yourself those questions before your practice it might help you find more love, awareness and devotion during your practice. #livingroomyoga#itsallaboutthelove
