Because freedom and liberty and equality are as vital as breath, we only notice their absence when we are left gasping when the colors of diversity and individual liberty are drained from the world around us.
Regrann from @thedejioluokun - So I wanted a very African & natural mood for this project. At the same time, I didn't want to go for the basic body painting, gele (headgear), Ankara, local accessories and all kinds of body art people normally use to depict "Africanism"; not only because I find it cliché but the cost of doing all these things...Chale, very crazy something. So I thought of using very "out-of the-box-African-International" outfits and the moment I reached out and explained to @thedotedesign, she got the idea in no time, got the material the next day and she started sewing. Yeah, she made these dresses from the scratch! I spoke to @divamaka and she was more than willling to come through for the project (You're the best, superstar!). Because I wanted it to be as natural as possible, I thought of either using a farm or a beach. Farm in Lagos, really? Lol. The beach it is! We started shooting at Elegushi around 6:32pm- a very risky thing to do as we were shooting with natural light. But Glory be to God (like in the movies, Lol) Special thanks to the two-man team (women actually, Lol): @thedotedesign & @divamaka.
It's a Wave-y Story!
And yes, we had to pay for a small place to change the model's outfits TWICE. This Lagos issa problem. Lol.
