I wouldn’t normally post a selfie on this page but as you can maybe see this was a special occasion! this last week I was able to attend my first Indian wedding in India and WOW! Multiple days of food, dancing and celebration. Everyone dressed in bright colors, jewels and gems. I’ve never been a part of anything like it. So here’s a pic of me all dressed and ready to go. Celebrating Shilpa’s engagement and wedding. Special thanks to Shilpa for the invite, for making me feel like a family member and for helping me get ready for your event! And special thanks to the entire family for welcoming me into your homes and celebrations with open arms! I truly feel like I made a new family in India this week. This country is magical and I am so thankful to have experienced this with everyone❤️🇮🇳
I’m Amie (duh) and my fiancé’s last name is Finlayson – but in under 3 months it’ll be mine, so it made sense to create my personal brand using my forever name. 💍⠀
I work full time as an Instagram Strategist & Brand Storyteller at @harveststudios. I haven’t worked in a corporate job for over 2 years. 👏🏻⠀
I technically don’t have a home address, but live between Sydney, Australia and Wellington, NZ, with several months of the year in Asia always thrown in. 💥⠀
I have a degree in journalism, but I’ve never worked as a journalist. Instead, I use my way with words & my love of photography to share the stories of business owners on IG. ⚡️⠀
I eat a plant-based diet, meaning I (quite simply) don’t eat animals. It’s kinda weird that people do, but the world’s a-changing. I don’t say I’m vegan, because even though I’m conscious of it, there’s clothes / accessories / home / travel items I am yet to replace. Regardless – DO something. 🌱⠀
I have VERY sensitive eyes, which means it’s more than likely, that if you bump into me in the street, I won’t be wearing makeup or I’ll have some thick AF glasses on. 🤓⠀
I work with brands that I care about & that care about the environment. No exceptions. 👊🏻⠀
I live for adventures & using my time wisely. No two days the same. Trying new things. Meeting new people. There’s so much more to life than being ordinary. 🤙🏻✨⠀
"To be a Bond girl you need courage, charm, determination & feistiness." Olga Kurylenko 💎💥
I love these brand attributes, a.k.a. core values, from your not so typical Bond girl! BTW, y'all have me reconsidering Daniel Craig over Sean Connery now.🤔 😂 But, we all agreed on today's Livestream that we would have loved to see @IdrisElba as 007! 🔥 #jamesbond25
We all have values that drive us +help us commit to our lives. Sometimes, the reason people are unhappy with their work or life is that their values are no longer in alignment. So, when you’re building your personal brand, it's important to understand your core values. They really are the HEART ❤ of who you are.
I'm channeling my inner Bond girl with integrity, fun, courage + determination. 👊🏽 What's one of your core values? Share in the comments. ⬇️
So grateful we can do both! We’ve never had a more positive, fulfilling career & of course we’ve never stopped adventuring. And sharing both with others is the best!! Being free from the 9-5, but still having the finances for the 24/7 rocks!
If you feel like you’re doing ALL THE THINGS and you’re not getting results, that can definitely make you feel a leeeeetle crazy, right?
You’re up to your eyeballs in all the right tools:
- You’ve gotten super clear on what you want
- You’re visualizing
- You’re journaling
- You’re strategizing, executing, and #allthethings you think you need to be doing to get yourself there, physically and energetically.
Buuuuuut it’s still not happening. And nothing calls in fear and doubt quicker than feeling like you’re working so hard to do everything right, but there’s still something blocking you from getting those results. I know, I’ve SO been there.
But what if that thing blocking you, is you?
I know - that’s enough to make you want to just throw what ever pretty little device you’re reading this on RIGHT ON OUT THAT WINDOW, huh?
Here’s the good news – you can control you. There’s not some outside force that you have no power over keeping you from everything you want. You don’t have to learn a new system, go write exactly 27 more blog posts, or get to 10k followers before the results you want start showing up.
So what’s a girl to do?
Show gratitude for the contrast.
I know. It really SUCKS about that unexpected bill popped up. Or that client who ghosted you. Or that launch that totally flopped.
But you’ve got two choices: 1) Dwell on it and, thus, bring more of it into your life because, Law of Attraction (thanks but no thanks, Universe) or 2) Be grateful for the experience because it showed you what you don’t want, thereby causing you to to ask for the result you DO want with greater clarity, which makes it manifest faster.
Remember who is in control here, start seeing those unwanted things/events/feelings with GRATITUDE, and trust that they are moving you closer to what you want.
Have you ever had an experience that felt ‘bad’ in the moment, but ended up actually moving you closer toward what you really wanted? Start building up that evidence for yourself that contrast is a GOOD thing.
What is the Other?" they ask.
The Other is the one who taught me whatI should be like, but not what I am. The Other believes that it is our obligation to spend our entire life thinking about how to get our hands on as much money a possible so that we will not die of hunger when we are old. So we think so much about money and our plans for acquiring it that we discover we are alive only when our days on earth are practically done. And then it's too late."
I hit my targets for today, which included: book new clients, make a new YouTube video (LINK IN BIO) make it to yoga to use my last classes, and get some admin done.
I even ended up with a last minute client call. I skipped gym for hot yoga tonight and did a bit of meditation this morning, took a nap while my video was uploading and just had 45 mins of quiet reflection in the new wellness room at Bliss Yoga Studio. It has an infrared sauna I gotta try that sometime!
Yin and yang energies are the parallel of masculine and feminine energy. Keep them in balance, stay fluid & flexible so that you create your default flow through the stresses of life.
We all know that restaurants and cafes are not just food spots anymore. We all know customers are getting more and more demanding. And educated too. Nowadays, we have all kind of food that you can imagine. You don’t need to go to France, Italy, China etc to try authentic cuisine, big cities have EVERYTHING. We can even order delivery service to either get a dish or ingredients for making a dish.
We are moving towards experience. We don’t go only for crepes, sushi, pizza you name it. We crave EXPERIENCE: concepts, homey places, friendly smiley faces asking “How are you today?”.
I believe restaurants have to create great experience to survive. A lot of that is about training your staff.
As a guest, you don’t want to be surrounded by arrogant waiters who don’t pay attention to you when you come, give a smile and say “good morning”. You don’t want to be surrounded by people who look like they hate their job (well, I don’t care about that part, just quit if you really hate your job or pretend like you love it) and who smile only to those guests they know. You don’t want to but you have to experience that negative part at @monsieurspoon Umalas. Don’t get me wrong: the place is lovely, breakfast, coffee, pastry - everything is great, chefs know what they’re doing. The part that Monsieur Spoon Umalas fails at is about staff who behave exactly the way I describe a few sentences before. It makes me want to go back to Monsieur Spoon Ubud because of nice guys creating great customers experience there✨
