So excited to get back into the salon tomorrow! It has been a long month waiting on my license and I’m so ready to get my hands in some hair. Here is a little #tbt of a nice natural balyage and baby light!
My friends, real friends, better than your friends 🌹s/o to this lovely lady for being here for me over the last 3 years 💕 welcoming me into her life, she gave me my first pieces of jewelry when I transitioned, was the first person to see me as myself. She encouraged me to go full time and taught me to be unapologetic in my womanhood and has kinda been a huge supporter in general. Take some time to recognize your cis sisters 💕 we have been thru some SHIT 💦😈😂

LONG POST- Rest of post in comments ♡
This transformation is really helped changed my mindset of why I do what I do. I listen a multitude of motivational speakers through social media platforms. One in particular, @garyvee constantly talks about entrepreneurs to always have perspective, love your process, speak their truth and from there they'll grow. Well I felt I was speaking my truth, recommending blowdry tips and tricks, recommending different products to help my guests to achive their style they would always get in the salon.
For a little bit of time, I was going through a funk. Feeling that my guests didnt find me as genuine with my work and my vision, behind the chair. Almost a plateau, going through the motions. Thankfully our leader at @hairxanadu, @dkeilitz , is amazing and gives us so much education. It was a class I had taken before with product knowledge. I was ready to go around the lines and test every in my hand again. This class was different, it wasnt about creating the best blowout, or teaching our guests how to create what we call day one hair. She asked us the question, are we doing all we can do to teach our guests how to style for day 2, 3 and 4?? In my mind, it hit me hard, I was calling myself on the carpet, that I was saying the same techniques with the same tools I had learned back in hair school, how boring and LAZY of me!? It's so easy in our industry, to fall in the trap, we want the perfect cut, balayage or updo for the next best photo on social media. I thought what I was doing what I thought the world wants to see but it wasnt what I wanted to do. I'd always get the comment, "I wish I could take you home with me, to do my hair." That means I've failed my guests! I was doing the same skills for the best social media photo, not actually teaching techniquesthat fit them, shame on me!
So I had to change my mindset. Starting with really taking the time to look at the individual heads of hair, be honest with them that, that wasn't their hair. Then showing tips that actually fit in their time window that they have each night or morning. Helping them love their hair for how it naturally is!
Ya’ll I’m still here - don’t worry! I’m still working out daily and sticking working on my nutrition! I’ve been feeling lately like I don’t have anything inspirational or motivational to add to everyone’s lives. So I just kinda shut up 🤐
I am working out daily, and last week I skipped a workout but I did 2 in one day so it made up for it. But the thing is, what I’ve been shoveling into my mouth kinda un-does all of my hard work in the mornings. It’s really frustrating and a very ugly cycle.
Nutrition is absolutely the most important part of the journey. It doesn’t matter if you workout for an hour a day and work hard - if you replace every calorie you burned that scale isn’t going any where.
So here’s a confession that I think led to all of the above. About a month ago I started to drink soda again. I thought for sure I was someone who could have 1 a week and be content. Long story short, I’m not that person. I think thats where I went wrong. It just kind spiraled downhill from there.
I know I’ve said this 100 times but I’m going to say this again, we are in control of our own journeys. Therefore we’re responsible for every Twinkie we eat and every workout we miss. But there’s a flip side to that coin, we also have the ability to say no to that Twinkie and yes to the workout. You are in control!!
To end this essay, if this speaks to you, if you feel like you’re in this ugly cycle too and want to break it, let’s break it together!! You have the power to make that happen!
I had the gorgeous @makeupbyameliawebb in yesterday for a cut and colour! We went nice and blonde and took her hair even shorter. It’s always so fun having her in the salon 💕 @bodahairboutique @wellapro_anz @foilmefoils @ysparklove @cloudnineoz @kevin.murphy.australia
