Well. That was interesting. Testing out the new wheels for the first time. Jazzed things up a bit on this miserable day with flowery leggings and flamingo socks 👌🏼 And also the first day of my period so wasn’t particularly feeling up for this AT ALL (SOZ OVERSHARE don't care...) I warmed up (never usually bother) and got into a really good pace once I started running, didn't go above 8min miles in fact I was hovering around 7min miles for most of it.
During my first recovery my hip flexor twinged and my knee started hurting. LIKE A LOT. Almost abandoned completely during my second run but instead walked and stopped and stretched (annoying because yanno, STATS and all that) but seemed to work.... Managed my 3rd run a little slower but still between 7 and 8min mile pace. And then the last stretch was great! I even clocked my pace at 6:49 for a couple of minutes! I mean how you folk sustain long distance at that speed... Well fuck knows. But it's done and I didn't die and I'm now going to stretch a LOT today.
OH and the shoes are bloody lovely! Just what I needed! Thanks to Keith at @lincsrunner for his assistance finding the right shoes for me! Cheers pal! On 24 March 2019, Mum and I will be running the London Landmarks Half Marathon in aid of Spinal Research.
Every day, three people in the U.K. are told they will never walk again after a spinal injury - we feel very lucky that I am even able to attempt to run 13.1 miles after my injury four years ago.
Any donation would be much appreciated as we kickstart our training - justgiving.com/rachael-everard
We still have places left for the London Landmarks Half Marathon 2019. Sunday 24 March 2019.Join Team Maggie’s and raise vital funds for Maggie’s Cancerkin. Look what I got in the post! My @horatiosgarden race vest for the London Landmarks Half Marathon. That’s 21.098 kilometres for those who are interested. The fundraising is underway and I’ve already had some very generous donations. But I’ve gone big with the target of £1000 and we are a way off yet! However, if any of you lovely Instafollowers would like to support the work that Horatio’s Garden do, then click the link in my bio and see how you can join in. It will also help with my training...it really will 😬🏃🏻♂️🏅🎯👍🏼🌿#llhm#llhm2019#horatiosgarden#everylittlehelps
So I don't generally ask for much on social media... but today I am. In February next year I'm running my first 10Km for Cancer Research UK... and in March I'm running my first Half Marathon for the National Literacy Trust. I've set up super simple text codes for both - swipe for the second one - and would be eternally grateful for any size donation. Wish me luck 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️ #Runner#ThisMumRuns#10km#HalfMarathon#CRUKWinterRun2019#LLHM2019
Day 1 // 206 Days To Go - Tonight I started my training and it didn't go quite as I'd hoped. The plan was to start back up with a slow and steady 5 mile run (which is a little less than I've been doing recently, although admittedly I have had a little break), improve my time over the next few weeks and then slowly build up my distance. I hadn't considered the fact that I've got one hell of a cold at the moment and it seems to be sitting pretty heavily on my chest. The (disappointing) result was a measley 1.25 mile run and a very grumpy walk home.
The only way is onwards and upwards..
As many of you will have seen I have pledged to @ignite_your_lion_heart that I will run the #londonlandmarkshalfmarathon2019 in honour of My Florence and for all the babies gone too soon for @tommys_thebabycharity
As a non runner I’m starting from scratch but even in the last 2 weeks I feel so much better! I’m still so unfit but today I was a minute quicker than my last one.
I have a long way to go...but I’m enjoying on having something to focus on that means so much to me.
Watching @richie6103 Run last year in honour of his nephew Leo, @thelegacyofleo gorgeous son and my Flo I can’t wait to be there doing it myself this time and cheers Rich for agreeing to run again 😜 and @carly_mac7 for signing up too!
If anyone can spare a penny or two it really does give me a boost to get out in the fresh air and off my grieving butt.
Thank you to all who have donated so far 💗 (link in Bio or text KEZW50 with amount £1, £5, £10 etc to 70070)
Edit- have now found out it was the lovely @lottiefish and the 24th March will be a year since her beautiful Carrie was taken too soon...you all will be in my thoughts 💗
...she set herself a challenge. WHAT? To ‘run’ a half marathon 88 days after baby’s due date. Ordinarily I would allow myself a bit more time to get back into race mode but I’m a big believer in being positive and even if I can’t actually run it then I will walk it. WHY? Because it’s for an absolutely brilliant cause. I will be supporting @robcruss as part of Team Theo running for @tommys_thebabycharity 🏃🏼♀️Rob’s story of baby loss is heartbreaking - take a look at his profile. I’m honoured to be asked to run as part of his team and I would be so so grateful for sponsorship, even if just a pound or two. If people sponsor me then there is no going back! Link to fundraising page in my bio.... Thank you in advance 😘 #thismumruns#londonlandmarkshalfmarathon#llhm2019#tommysthebabycharity#teamtheo
My first Park Run today!
Back to my first 5km post baby ( so 19 months later inc pregnancy) - really happy with an estimated time of <31 mins
Lots more training to come for the @tommys_thebabycharity LLHM2019
So I said I was planning on doing something Brave and Crazy inspired by my gorgeous Florence 💗🌸 Well this is it....I’ve pledged to @ignite_your_lion_heart that I will run the #Londonlandmarkshalfmarathon2019 as part of Team @tommys_thebabycharity in Honour of Our Beautiful Girl.
This half marathon is a matter of weeks after Florence’s first Heavenly Birthday and a few weeks before the time we should be celebrating her 1st Birthday here with us.
This is brave and crazy for me as I’m not a runner in the slightest...but here goes the training and I’ll do my best to make Florence proud and raise lots of pennies for an amazing charity (I’ll start harassing you all soon for this)
