“I finished my semester and most of my friends are still in school so I wanted to find a place I could travel to alone. I love traveling to the Middle East, and I found out that Israel is the safest place in the Middle East so that is why I came here. Also, the people here have been so kind and helpful.” (Hong Kong)
Can't believe it's been a year since I stepped off that plane and became an Israeli citizen. There were plenty of ups and plenty of downs. But overall it was a great ride. Ready for round 2 with purple hair again.
Five years ago today, I had probably one of the best days in the history of all the days. I was in my new favorite city (Tel Aviv) drinking my new favorite drink (Goldstar) and having a delicious dinner before viewing an always favorite (“Fiddler on the Roof”). As far as days go, it was a 10. Everyday is a good day, but some, they make you feel like Elle Woods on here graduation day...they are perfect days (where nothing’s standing in your way and where nothing can go wrong....) What is one of your most perfect days?
This Shabbat is Rosh Chodesh Elul and it also marks SIX years since I made aliyah (this past Tuesday was the Hebrew anniversary and this coming Tuesday is the English one)!! I can’t believe that 6 years ago I got off the plane in this incredible country that I’m lucky enough to call home.
I also can’t believe that it’s already Elul which means Rosh Hashana is just a month away. There’s so much to prepare for mentally, physically, and spiritually.
But there’s also so much to look forward to because there’s truly nothing quite as beautiful as celebrating the chagim here in the Jewish homeland.
Shabbat Shalom and Chodesh Tov everyone!!
