Taipei, the dazzling and unique capital of Taiwan, sits in a basin surrounded by mountains. At one point it was known for having the tallest skyscraper in the world, Taipei 101. Now, this massive landmark is ranked as the 10th tallest building in the world reaching 1,670 feet— however it still holds the world’s highest Starbucks.

Hi. Welcome to my little corner of the internet. I'm gonna go 0 to 100 in getting real up in here. Lately, everything has been juuuuust working. The balance of being mom and growing/running a business all in the same space means that one moment I feel like superwoman, and the next I'm crying and panicking and feeling like I'm just not enough for either of these roles.
It means asking your child to keep on watching TV all day because you just need to focus on work. It means promising to take the day off soon to play with him but then having to explain to him that while you promised, deadlines came up and you just can't anymore. It means working until 1am every night while your kid falls asleep in your office with you because you can't stop to do your usual bedtime routine. It means questioning what the hell you're doing.
I internalize a lot. I put my head down and hustle and just do the work, affirming myself and who I am throughout. But sometimes, it's too much. Yesterday, it was too much and I reached out.
I reached out to my boyfriend and specific friends to tell them that I felt lonely. I reached out to ask them for specific affirmations and validation. I cried and just asked my tribe to please lift me up, and they delivered. They affirmed what I’ve been trying to tell myself... that Jude will remember the quality time moments. That I’m teaching him strong work ethic and how to pursue dreams. That I AM actually a bad ass doing more than I realize for him.
If you're like me, it takes a lot to reach out and tell people you're struggling. I can feel like a burden or even weak in asking for help.
I'm here to tell you though (and I'm telling myself this, too) that you are NOT weak and the people who love you do NOT think your struggles are a burden. You are NOT alone. You CAN get through this. ASK FOR WHAT YOU NEED FROM THOSE IN YOUR TRIBE. Let me be a part of your tribe. Keep reaching out and keep chugging along.
Take it away, Troy... “we’re allllll in thiiiis togeeeether...” 🎵 #thehoneyphotolife
*NEW BLOG* These days it can feel very frightening to maintain a sense of balance and well-being when hit with the constant barrage of atrocious and emotionally triggering news. It’s so very hard to get our heads around all of the hate, trauma and violence in the world. You might feel helpless or a bit lost. On one hand you are committed to being well-informed and involved and on the other hand, being flooded with traumatizing news can feel too heavy to hold. If you are struggling on how to stand up for humanity and also take care of yourself, this blog is written for you. In this blog I address the historical roots of oppression in the United States and also offer tips on how you can stand up for humanity and not neglect taking care of yourself during scary times. I believe that we can hold ourselves to higher standards and unite from a place of love, awareness and a commitment to take care of each other. *Click link in my bio to read*
