Spend time alone is very important to me. To sit on a porch of a cabin and watch, listen, smell. Being comfortable with yourself is a starting point of discovering who you are. You will find more than you think 🍂☕️🎶
This year has been a process of shaping and reshaping what home actually means to me. And here’s how I’m defining it these days.
Home is an empty art gallery all to myself.
Home is long, late night phone calls with old friends.
It’s falling in love with a community of beautiful and faithful new friends completely by surprise.
Home is my mom’s bolognese recipe on a cold night.
Home is the release of tears when my heart feels heavy.
It’s the rediscovery of numerous mixed cds from friends that take me right back to high school.
Home is finding peace in the unknown.
It’s an entire conversation spoken only through eye contact.
Home is the stories told when sifting through a box of old photos.
It’s words of affirmation I didn’t realize I was craving to hear.
Home is loving this season of life and all the change and upheaval that’s coming with it.
I turned 28 today, and it feels just like home.
Thank you, @kendallhanna, for this pic and for always making me look cooler than I really am.
The air quality in the bay this week has seriously got me down. I’ve dreamt about rain/fresh air so many nights this week + am even looking at snow storms longingly in the news. Snow day > Smoke day any day 😷 So happy to be headed back to London in February. Can’t wait for some chilly rainy cozy days with my love @shaunpuklavetz 💙🌧💦 // 35mm
i’m really fond of autumn this year. i feel a sort of kinship with its bright gray light, its sleet, and its cemetery of leaves—like I’m proud of the earth for keeping on, and i’m also proud of all of us bundling up each day and going out in the cold again and again. i like the idea of following the rhythm of the seasons. here are some things that feel a part of its great cadence to me this year: pruning the plants, lighting candles during breakfast, cooking with cinnamon and sweet potato, taking refuge in the library on a blustery day, and watching the leaves fall like rain off the tree in our front yard. are there rhythms you follow in fall? traditions you treasure?
he may not be smiling (there was a scary look wolfs head in the bushes behind us 😳😵😬) but he sat still enough to snap this picture - so that’s something right 🙃🧒🏼🌙 flashing back to @spooktober_melbourne a couple of weeks ago
David said today • ‘our discipline and parenting is either going to make him into an adult with issues - or he will come good and be easier soon, he will start learning’ • please tell me the learning comes soon - I’m banking on so many of you telling me four is better - I need him to start actually absorbing some of the lessons 😑🤷🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🍷🍷✖️
This time last week, we were settling into this lil retro beauty on Black Rock Mountain. We had such a lovely time! If you’re interested in how we took this thing from 80s to today, our remodel video is over on the blog. ⛰🍁
I’ve been learning recently that a big part of saying “It’s someday today” is to (whether you feel ready or not) just step into it. This can mean really big steps, but it can also mean tiny things. For me, one of those things has been learning to call myself a “Creative”. It’s so easy for me to disqualify myself, and to say that I am a student, that it’s just a hobby, or a variety of other excuses. But I’ve seen a significant shift in my mindset as I’ve learnt to confidently speak into my identity, and who it is that I am (and am becoming). So now I say it. “I’m a designer, a photographer, a creative.” What are you speaking (perhaps sub-consciously) over yourself? // Words and photo by #ISTphotographer Luka Jamieson of the #DreamAchieverCollective (together we say #itssomedaytoday )

Snacks! I feel like that cute little girl hollering snacks. Whose stress eating already this Holiday season? Between wrapping up renovations, planner orders, and all my new projects for the New Year, I find myself reaching to veg out. I know the season is going to bring all the cookies and candies and twenty course meals, so I'm fighting the good fight. ⠀
Help a hungry girl out...what are your favorite healthy snacks to get me through this craziness?
Have you heard about the @wearethefabricstore “The Little Black Dress” project? The dresses are 100% linen and are available for purchase in-store only (for $25), with $7 from each dress purchased going directly to your stores chosen local charity. I bought my dress on Friday (made my way to the Dunedin store in pouring rain for it too!) The Dunedin store is donating the proceeds to the Dunedin Women’s Refuge. Swipe across for more photos of the dress. And visit the @wearethefabricstore IG page or website for more details. They still had a variety of sizes at the Dunedin store. I’m wearing the US0 and it fits like a glove x (more on my stories)
Hanging out in a super cozy outfit, watching Versailles. Still have not decided on a hosting company, ugh. I am gonna sleep on that one. In the mean time I am thinking of the hoodie of my dreams while fantasizing about living during Louis XIV's reign....then again I need deodorant.
