This is Benjamin, he is my first born, he is the sweetest boy and he was the reason I started this business.
He reckons mummy’s shop is pretty cool and loves to steal a lollipop or two...
Today whilst his brother had his nap we tried on a few threads to give you an idea of how they fit, because online shopping can be scary.
Benji is almost 5 he is wearing a size 5 in the fern tank and a size 4 in the hammer shorts. They have a functional draw string cord so you can pull them at the waist to keep them in place. #SkinnyKidProblems
You can check out our stories to see him werk werk this outfit.
Let me know if you’d like a model show on the weekly 😂
Before he starts asking an hourly rate 🙊
A little later in the day than my usual, but I’ve come to terms with my personal mom mantra being “better late than never.” Also, I maaaay have lost the question mark for my board...😂
So what can you say to a loved one who is experiencing abnormally anxious, fearful, or intrusive thoughts? Ask them if they want to talk about them...and then practice nonjudgmental listening!
In my experience, sometimes saying the irrational things I’m thinking, for example that I’ll pass out in the car and crash it (which I’ve never done before), makes me realize how irrational they are. Telling a friend can help me recognize these thoughts as just thoughts, acknowledge them...and let them go.
The nonjudgmental part is an important part of this listening process. Sometimes intrusive thoughts can be scary, even to the thinker. And knowing you are thinking thoughts you “shouldn’t” can be shameful. It helps to have a friend who you know won’t judge!
I am so grateful for the positive response to this new series and my story question, thank you all! I can feel there is a need to keep this dialogue going, and I plan to do so!
Nova is definitely going to be a water babe like Arlo. As soon as he’s in the water a calm washes over him and he looks so peaceful it’s adorable. That is until Arlo ‘shares’ his toys with him and sends waves crashing his way. Needless to say the shared bath times don’t usually last very long 🙃 swipe to see Arlo as a newborn fresh out of the bath. Do you think they look alike? #arloandnova
#tbt also known as #throwbackthursday June 2014🏋🏻♀️**Warning long post** If you need an awesome laugh at this video or a😳🙈at horrible form feel free to do so! I feel compelled as of lately to touch on this subject... believing in yourself so others take you seriously💯! I have struggled throughout my now 8 years in the fitness industry with judgements. When I was 22 and just beginning, I would greet members for cycle or barre class at the front desk. I will never forgot laughs and criticism I received when they realized I were the one teaching their class. It was after I kicked some butt I redeemed myself trustworthy. Fast forward each of the 4 box gyms I have worked at as a personal trainer (including my own) I almost feel as though I have to work extra hard, to be taken seriously in the fitness industry💪🏼. I was not born with muscle. I built it to look the part. Today at my new job I was told by a female that since I am a girl in the role I can play dumb vs guys so the public will be sold. But why?! So... here is where this video hits home. I received my Crossfit certificate in March of 2014. I never did a day of Crossfit in my life. As a birthday gift to myself(May), before opening a Crossfit gym in August of 2014 I wanted to learn your basic Olympic lifts. Why?! Because if someone had a question at my gym, altho I would never be and never did coach a single Crossfit class- I wanted to have the answer. I did not want to “play dumb”. Once a week, in-between teaching 7-8 classes I sought out a coach. I would practice over and over and over again. You don’t wish for something- you work for it😎You can hear I’m talking to myself. 1. I will forever be a student. 2. It’s ok to ask for help. 3. Your mind is your biggest enemy-you are your biggest critique and #1 fan NEVER LET ANYONE change that💚

☀️New blog post☀️ I don't know about you, but I worry often. Motherhood has turned me into a worry-wart. I don't remember worrying as much before becoming a mother, but I also suspect being a mother has given me amnesia. ⠀
Perhaps as a way to cleanse my brain of all that I worry, and perhaps add a bit of relief to all the ways you too might worry, I give you my list of 43 ways I overly worry on an everyday basis, though it's probably hourly. Link in profile!
It is COLD here today! Yesterday, there were snow flurries and today the dew on the grass was frozen! ❄ We lit the fireplace and had chili on a blanket on the floor for dinner Monday night! Mikayla said it was "fun and cute and cozy" and she was so right! .
Also, I brought some of my plants in and didn't know where to hang this basket of succulents so I put it on the fireplace ledge and I kind of love it... might just stay there a while! .
Keep warm everyone!
Since P has started walking she only wants to be outside, when we are inside she spends most of her time sitting at the back door attempting to put her shoes on. It is the sweetest thing & very different to my indoor game loving boy.
Check out @little.leas for the sweetest handmade clothes for your little babes & @_maybe_one_day__ for gorgeous bows!
Dear Penny, an unexpected win at a crazy time when your dummy split on Sunday evening & you simply put it in the bin. We’re 3 sleeps & 1 full day of nursery without it & I’m confident now saying it’s gone for good. Another milestone..another ridiculous reason for me to tear up & squeeze you tight. I love you my little fuzzball ❤️ xxx
Nova snuggled on our walk around East Carlton on Monday. He was an angel unlike his brother that changed his mind between walking, sitting on the pushchair and an ‘up cuddle’ every 5 minutes. Thankfully @jessicafowler97 was there and saved me from a breakdown in the middle of the woods #mumssupportingmums
Today I am thankful for a voice and a little glimmer of courage to introduce you to #fiercelittleletterboards ! An occasional informative series of what not to/what to say to people experiencing mental illness.
Have you ever been worried about something, and been told to “just not think about it?” Does it help? I’d bet not, yet this is the one thing I hear most when experiencing symptoms of my anxiety disorder.
You see, for me, panic is a Lone Ranger, striking me with its physical symptoms long before any thoughts occur. When your palms are suddenly sweaty, hands shaking, heady dizzy, and you feel like you literally might poop yourself any second with no warning...it’s difficult not to think about.
My husband used to say this to me often when I cried about panic, with good intention. It’s hard to explain that you can’t not think thoughts that aren’t there.
Another symptom of anxiety, depression, or OCD are intrusive thoughts. These are unwanted thoughts that can be scary or taboo. They can make the thinker feel like a bad, weird person, when in reality everyone has them, and you can’t just push them out of your mind, hence the intrusive label.
What I’ve learned about unwanted thoughts in general is that pushing them away or trying not to have them often has the opposite affect and encourages or strengthens them. Telling someone with anxious or intrusive thoughts to just not think about it trivializes their concern and indicates that they should have some control over them...which is not often the case.
Check back tomorrow for what has been more helpful for loved ones to say to me about anxious thoughts!
This little ones vocab is starting to grow quickly! The only word for a long time was “hot”, followed by “water”, “where” (with the cutest hand gesture), “tea” and “squish”. Priorities right? 🙈 Fortunately some more variety is starting now 😉
It’s fascinating to watch her build up her communication! It’s like we’re learning a new language at the same time too.
What did your little ones say first?
#gratitude for preschool allowing me to return to the serene hikes I used to have with this love, at least for a while!
One of those rare foggy Colorado mornings where everything feels different, both eerie and magical.
Those days that nothing goes according to plan ... today seems to be one of them! My car didn’t start this morning , I ended up needing a new battery 😏 on the plus side still got my workout done (this is why I do it first thing most days) , still made it just in time for my little guys parent / teacher conference and now home with the munchkins . Thankful for this!! And this one is currently helping me check msgs while trying to feed me cheez-it’s ... it’s incredibly hard to deny those ! 😜 T-minus 2 days till we are on vacation !!! I don’t know about you, but I turn into a crazy(ier) person right before a trip... there is no helping this, but what I have found is the workouts and checking in with the ladies in my bootcamp help keep me sane ! Maybe it’s because it’s filled with other Mamas who can relate or who can talk some sense into me? 😉
Either way, love the community! 💗 Now... anyone else feel like you add on all these “to-dos” right before you go on a trip? My poor hubby is constantly like 🙄🙄🙄🙄🤪🤦🏻♀️!
🙌🏽this is the first time the chick has wanted to get on and ride with her papa at the track. Of course she had to wear his helmet. The dude came out loving motorcycles. The sound almost soothed him, and he frequently asked to ride. But the chick has always been more tentative. It’s really wonderful, because motorcycles are her papa’s passion and seeing them share it is really special!!
You are one of the strongest girls I know. Never in my wildest dreams did I think this would become the new “normal” for us. To see you in that much pain breaks my heart. I wish there was something I could do to make this all go away. But through it all you crack a joke or even give me a smile and always end up on top. I will always hold you hand through the pain, be your voice when needed and no matter what have your back. If the world could be half as brave as you or have your amazing attitude, if they could all smile and push through the hardest days like you do it would be a better place!! #abdominalmigraines#fpies#cyclicvomitingsyndrome#littleandfierce#rockstar#alwayssmiles#brave#strongirl
Guys, meet Penny! The newest tiny furball edition to our family!
If you know me, you know I was incredibly close to my kitty baby who got hit by a car in September. We are definitely pet people, and our house has seemed so empty since his passing.
I had an appointment to meet Penny before the devastation in my hometown. She’s already been a little glimmer of cuddly sunshine, bringing us so much joy. She’s also proving to be just as strong-willed of a female as the other two in our household 😂. My poor husband!
Tbh, my husband would have loved a dog, but with the amount of “cat lady” stuff I own, it’s practically built into my DNA. Are you a cat or dog person??
Ps. If you think taking pics of a toddler is hard, try taking them of a kitten! Swipe left and view my stories for more!
