Did you know?
This phenomenal duo came together by chance through the casting of Ah Boys To Men 3.
Yung Raja was only 17 when he decided to further his career in acting. He started by going for different auditions and testing the grounds, not knowing that his persistence would eventually open a whole new world and change his life. Fariz Jabba had a different story. Coming from a family of entertainers, his brother (who happens to be comedian Fakkah Fuzz) encouraged him to take a stab at auditions to get into the industry. He didn't know where that would lead him but decided to give it a shot anyway. And that was how their lives collided.
What started out as an unlikely tale of two strangers, turned into a beautiful story of friendship and collaboration. One thing that brought them together? Their love for hip-hop and rap.
The best friends wanted to try doing something different, which got them collaborating to create music together. Their hard work paid off when they were invited to go on 16 Baris, a platform for aspiring rappers to showcase their work. Joe Flizzow, the founder of 16 Baris, recognised their hunger and talent and took them under his wing.
With a mentor from industry giant Joe Flizzow, Fariz and Raja's skills were taken to the next level. Today, they've not only released hit singles and music videos, but they're also two of Singapore's promising rappers making waves both locally and around the region.
Don't discount small beginnings, and be open to people you meet along your journey. You'll never know what magic it would bring ;) FINESSE: The 16 Baris Story was released last week, check it out now!
