I’ve been really feeling my shadow side these past two weeks. Lethargy, quick to cry, disinterest in social activities, decrease in training time. I’ve been putting up a fight against the darkness. Not entirely certain where it came from but I have a few theories on it.
The changing of the seasons, advancing in age, hormones, feeling inadequate, lazy, and incompetent. I know these are just feelings but, man, they are sucking the wind out of my sail.
I’ve made the decision to stay on the east coast until mid December. Hang here in DC with plans for Asheville, Philly, Baltimore, Boston, and New York on the table. Not sure if I will be able to do it all, but I am hopeful.
The gloominess shall pass and I will carry on. Forcing myself to establish a bit more structure and routine in my life. I have lofty goals and if I am going to obtain them I need to crack the whip on myself, because I have no one to be accountable to but myself. I create my own happiness, I choose to seek out joyful experiences, this pit of darkness shall be overcome.
Shine on, my friends. Shine on.

With lots to do and so much to see, today was as fun as fun could be. Colorful leaves falling down from the blustery trees to the delicious hot coffee in the perfect DC fall breeze....a glorious sight to see. Monuments galore made me forget about the shore as I jumped into history in awe. Magical moonlight brought upon the night as we took advantage of the incredible big bus tour. The upper deck was frigid for sure but the air was pure as the sights were magnificent all aglow. My heart is full as Jennifer & I get to share these fun times together. Loving this place filled with history and grace. Can’t wait until tomorrow! #dc#washingtondc#lincolnmemorial#us#sunday#bestdayever#capital#todaywasok#awesome#fall#washingtondc#nationalmonument#mydccool
Yesterday was full of unexpected emotions for the both of us. First, as we are walking done along the Reflecting Pool, we of course reflected. Hard not to. Also hard not to when all of a sudden we are right in the middle of the "Walk Out of the Darkness" walk that was put on by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. We saw so many people out there walking and running wearing different colored beads. Found out at the end that the colors represented who they had lost. Some people wearing 3 or 4 strands. It's heartbreaking just to see those that are out there with a single strand. But to see multiples. Then seeing the lighted up lantern/bags. After that, just seeing the iconic man in his chair brought out more emotions of what he symbolizes.
I am honored to have seen the memorial of such a great man in American history. Abraham Lincoln was a man who had moral convictions and stood firm in the presence of great adversity and divisiveness. This was the president who pushed legislation that forever outlawed slavery through the thirteenth amendment.
I'm overwhelmed by what this place represents. #icriedofcourse#respect 🙏
