One of my biggest pieces of advice to someone starting out their strength training journey is to start with compound exercises, meaning exercises that work multiple muscle groups at once (squats, deadlifts, pull ups, dips, etc). This allows for your whole body to become engaged, providing for more functional movement and giving you the most bang for your buck.
Also, get over the intimidation or fear of judgment quickly. It’s only impairing your own ability. Nobody is focusing as closely on you as you are yourself. Opt for assistance or very low weight in exercises than not doing them at all, and focus on form! This is how one progresses.
No way could I do even a single tricep dip unassisted like I’m doing here just a few years ago. I started doing them on an assisted machine like this once a week, slowly lowering the assistance weight and eventually I built up to where I am now. I’m still building upon my abilities, dabbling in adding weight to my body currently.
This is typically how I start my chest & tricep workout: 4 sets of TRICEP DIPS via this pyramid rep scheme - 15, 12, 10, 8. 💪🏻 #likeagirl#likeavegan
