John 8:12 Again Jesus spoke to them saying ... I’m the light of the world whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the Light of Life ... Ephesians 5:8 For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the LORD .... The world is filled with darkness so let your LIGHT SHINE.... May you have a Blessed weekend #jesus#jesuschrist#christmas#christmasdecorations#lightoftheworld#godlovesyou#mom#momlife#wife
Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12

We are the light of the world.
“Your lives light up the world. Let others see your light from a distance, for how can you hide a city that stands on a hilltop? And who would light a lamp and then hide it in an obscure place? Instead, it’s placed where everyone in the house can benefit from its light. So don’t hide your light!” Matthew 5:14-16 | TPT
Did you know?
Advent begins Sunday, December 2nd. "The Church year begins with the first Sunday of Advent. During this four-week season, we wait in great expectation to celebrate the birth of Jesus and look forward to His second coming. The Advent wreath is a popular sacramental that feeds our devotion to the Lord during this season.
...The Advent wreath is a symbol of Light overcoming spiritual darkness. As the laurel wreath was symbolic of victory, so the wreath of evergreens represents the one who is to come and win over death. The circular shape represents the eternity He secures for us...
The three purple candles in the wreath symbolize preparation, penance, and sacrifice. We light the pink candle on the third Sunday of Advent, called Gaudete Sunday, meaning "Rejoice." The Entrance Antiphon for this day is 'Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say Rejoice! ... The Lord is near' (Philippians 4:4-5).
Some people include a white candle in the center of the wreath. This is the Christ candle, to be lit on Christmas Day...The gradual increase of light throughout the Advent season brightens into the Light for the World, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
The Advent wreath in the home calls up many different traditions. Whether we make one from a Styrofoam ring or buy one that matches our other Christmas decorations, the wreath is meant to bring us to prayer, to lead us to the Light, and to renew our desire for Him in our daily lives...This sacramental reminds us to slow down, to remember why we give one another gifts, to think about whom we are celebrating..." -"Amazing Graces: The Blessings of Sacramentals"

In the end, the light will win. I think this is hard to believe sometimes and I hear chatter about politics and the hysteria from people about the state of the world no matter which side. I think we sometimes have forgotten who’s in charge of this whole world. I think we forget what the Bible says. It should give us such peace, even in what may seem like lost hope and chaos, to know that in the end of all of this - all of this cancer, all of this human trafficking, all of this hate and fighting and bitterness and loss. In the end of all of the injustice, is a GOOD GOD. In the end, the Bible lets us know that we win. The good guys win and Jesus will come again and God will make right all that is wrong. He isn’t just love He’s also just. .
So next time you feel hopeless, and it feels like we’re never gonna win this war, next time you hear about injustice and you feel defeated because you can’t change someone’s mind, next time you find yourself arguing about politics or religion and it plants a seed of hatred in your heart for the other side, the other team, remember that Jesus came to let us know that hope is not lost and what’s going on here is not lost on God. Jesus was born in a manger to give our hearts hope and light in an already fallen, broken world. This is what we cling to. This is where our hope lies. .
Behind that. WE WIN. JESUS WINS. the enemy will be defeated and there will come a day when God will make right every wrong and all the broken will be healed and all the hungry will be fed. FOREVER. For eternity. .
This is the promise of the One who is in charge. We fight the battles that need to be fought, with dignity. We stay the course and we do what we can. And then we trust God and we lie in hopefulness of the day when Jesus will come for His people. Because no one else is in actually in charge of this country or this world, despite what we feel. And nothing happens that God does not see or care about. We must act like a people who know how this thing ends. Not as those who have no hope. When did we forget that He’s always been the King of the world (@nataliegrant reference)
As you look at the day before you, you see a twisted, complicated path, with branches going off in all directions. You wonder how you can possibly find your way through that maze. Then you remember the One who is with you always, holding you by your right hand. You recall My promise to guide you with My counsel, and you begin to relax. As you look again at the path ahead, you notice that a peaceful fog has settled over it, obscuring your view. You can see only a few steps in front of you, so you turn your attention more fully to Me and begin to enjoy My Presence.
The fog is a protection for you, calling you back into the present moment. Although I inhabit all of space and time, you can communicate with Me only here and now. Someday the fog will no longer be necessary, for you will have learned to keep your focus on Me and on the path just ahead of you.
Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory.
Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

Caught this shot near Mont-Royal in Montreal.
So grateful for this bright reminder that the light of Jesus has pierced every darkness and it will never be snuffed out.
“In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
—John 1:4-5 NIVUK .
Whatever is going on today, go to the Light. There is always hope, always second chances, always more for you!
The only offensive part of the armor, the sword. Soldiers in the Army learn how to use their weapon from the beginning and continue to qualify and practice and use their weapon over and over and over again because if a soldier does not know how to wield their weapon, then they are useless in time of battle. Interestingly enough though, the sword is as defensive as it is offensive. But again, a person does not just pick up that sword and use it effectively, a person must practice,….. a lot,….. read your Bible Christian.
Jesus gives us an excellent example of its use as a means of defense during His wilderness struggle with Satan (Matthew 4:1–10). Each time Satan tempted Jesus, Jesus struck it away, like a sword parry, by quoting the truth of God. Three times He countered Satan by quoting Scripture. “It is written” (Jesus’ parry Matt. 4:4, 7, 10) becomes the prefix to our greatest defense against any aggressive attack the Evil One wishes to make.
The attack is fairly self-evident, however, Hebrews 4:12, is a place where the writer relates that the sword/Gods Word, is sharper than a two-edged sword and penetrates and divides the soul and the spirit. It judges the thoughts and attitudes of humankind. It reveals every hidden thing within creation. It is no wonder that the truth feels uncomfortable isn’t it. However, a word of caution …… It is never our intent to run people off or leave them mortally wounded, it is always our intent to bring people into God’s family as we can, salvation not hopelessness. That is why the sword is defensive and offensive. We are called to be salt and light, not judges and jury. Be carful with that sword Christian, learn to use it wisely and effectively.
The weekend is upon us again my friends. Blessings to you, be a blessing to someone this weekend and I’ll see you next week where I have one more thought on this set of passages.
