I was gifted treasure today in the form of books that were my maternal grandparents. 1953 copy of the “Joy of Cooking” dog eared/taped/tobacco stained and filled with newspaper clippings from my Grammer; my grandfathers favorites Kipling and Poe. #lifewelllived

Feel like I’m falling apart a bit, I am not feeling it today, which is really inconvenient because I’m livin’ the Ukraine life again next week. I did enjoy a seriously overdue catch up with one of my absolute diamonds 😘 she’s an actual mega babe, girl boss, superstar mum wrapped into one glorious human being. 💛🧡
Hey. I’m Erin. Some of you know me personally, but many of you don’t. It‘s been brought to my attention a few times recently that my emphasis on fitness on here leads people to assume it’s my profession, and so I thought maybe I should do a little reintroduction to share what I am ACTUALLY doing with my days and why I have this page, in hopes to connect a little deeper with those out there!
✨ I’ve always been passionate about staying healthy and using fitness as an outlet, so I started this back when Instagram was a place where you’d post in the moment and could care less about “content,” just to share motivation for the lifestyle. I believed (and still wholeheartedly believe) that discipline and dedication towards physical goals carries over into everyday life and character, so I like to spread that message. I also have seen a lot of misconception about fitness/wellness being an “all-or-nothing” lifestyle, so I try to show that it doesn’t take multiple hours a day or a life of isolation to achieve.
✨ Having struggled with health complications for years, not knowing the true cause of the pain/discomfort I was feeling after eating, and getting little to no help from doctors, made me want to connect with and help others who may be experiencing something similar. Though I don’t post as much about food as would probably be helpful, I have done a lot of research/self-experimentation to figure out what’s best for me, and I’m happy to help others as well.
✨ I previously worked as an engineer/consultant, and I’m now in the second year of an mba program to make a career switch. My days are mostly spent in class, doing school work/projects, and ultimately working to gain the skills necessary for a different path. My dream is to run my own business some day, so I am slowly but surely starting to put the pieces together to figure out what that looks like.
✨This is all a way to stay motivated and positive myself, but it’s ultimately more to connect and share learnings/inspiration to truly help and make an impact on others in some way, no matter how small. Thanks for following along.💗
My Mother always told me I was born on a full moon night. So tonight underneath the autumn equinox I stood at the shrine, made my offering and blew out the candle on the most favorite birthday cake I’ve ever had...a moon cake. Nothing is coincidence 27 years later I’m spending my last birthday here in Asia underneath the full moon I couldn’t be more grateful for all the years of my life I have spent...simply just living. #japan#misawa#north#akita#happybirthday#27#lifewelllived#akitacity#autumnequinox#fullmoon
The other day I had breakfast in a local Balinese restaurant and I chatted with the waiter about how I ended up here. "I'm staying for 2 months for now." I said "I LOVE Bali!" 🌴❤ He blushed and smiled. "Thank you" he mumbled.
I was amazed at how deeply he associated himself with the island he's living on.
So much so that anything I had said about this place he would've taken it as an opinion about himself.
But when people ask me where I'm from, I always hesitate for a moment.
Should I say Kuala Lumpur where I'm currently living?
Should I say Hungary where I was born?
And when they ask "But where in Hungary?" should I say Pomáz, my howntown with the house I grew up in - or Budapest where where all my connections tie back to?
And I'm not even as complicated as so many of my friends who hold a double citizenship or who were born with a mixed race. (Though, I've never tested my DNA)
So does it matter where we're coming from?
For some people it does. Others are more interested in where you're heading.
In the Western world we say the future in 'ahead' of us and we leave the past 'behind.' But certain native American tribes say the exact opposite.
After all, we can't see our future, we can only see our past. But our perspectives are different.
And then there are some who only care about where you are right now.
In some cultures, time is money. But in places like Bali, everything happens in it's own time.
So I think it does matter where you're from and where you're going, I don't see these as labels.
I think if we can ask these questions and still look at the person the same way we did before their answer, then these places are nothing more than chapters in our story.
Particles of our human experience that shape us and gift us stories.
So that the next time someone asks us where we're coming from or where we're heading, we have some lessons to share with each other. .
Tonight, my community came together to celebrate the life of a lovely lady, 👉🏻our neighbour Pat.💗
She wanted us to have a pizza party "on her" and we did as everyone shared their favourite memories and toasted her. 🥂
Muffin maker for new neighbours, sports fan, dog lover wife, mom, Oma and friend.
We all wore blue (her favourite colour) laughed together and told stories as we enjoyed that pizza. Her sweetheart of 56 years, Henri, sent each one of us home with a yellow rose. 💛
I feel so blessed to live in such a loving, caring community.
Can you say the same?
Because today is Friday and last Friday we went out on our first date since E's birth, I'm throwing a flashback pic atcha real hord. Whilst I'm doing this, can you guess what my next word[s] is[are] going to be????¿????????¿???????
If you guessed supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, you would be right
Oh and check out the latest post in the bio. Ha, tricked ya😘
I find it so funny when I overhear people speaking as if someone took something from them... a man, a woman, a job, a opportunity ... hell, a donut 🍩 . Nobody owes you anything. If it was meant for you, you would have it. If you want something, make the sacrifices and compromises, then work for it. But in the end, expect nothing and be grateful for everything. THAT is a #lifewelllived . .
PS: @bkcass snapped this #streetstyle pic yesterday in Soho #NYC . We almost got run over by automobiles and definitely go a contact high. 🌿
