I’ve been on a caffeine-free journey for 7 days! 🙌🏻🙌🏻💪🏻 Last Monday, I decided I needed to step away from the coffee and try to rid the caffeine. Mostly for digestion purposes. And I can already see such a big difference. .
Needless to say, This past week has been rough 😳🤪, but I made it past the tough part. .
I did this same thing last March, but It didn’t stick. I hopped fiercely back on the coffee train. Mainly because I didn’t find a substitute that I loved just as much. So here’s the two drinks I’ve been drinking to help me through. in case anyone else is looking to do the same thing. I allowed myself to have decaf coffee this morning so I don’t feel deprived, and I’m not even enjoying that much. .
First, is this @tazo tea. It is sooo refreshing! I love it.. I could drink it all day.

Second, is lemon 🍋 water, with a bit of honey and a sprinkle of cinnamon. 😋 (this is my go-to). .
I’m feeling pretty confident in my change this time, so send me some encouraging prayers that I can stick with it. .

I strongly believe that people don’t lack motivation. Many times people ARE motivated to become healthier...what they lack is a strong enough MINDSET. 👊🏽
When people begin their fitness journey they are ready to give it 110%! They might go buy a new pair of shoes or workout clothes, make their planners super neat and laid out, and have their fridge completely stocked and prepped. Day one comes and BOOM, rocked it. Day two-four goes well...and then by the weekend they tend to let excuses sneak in. They attend a get-together and splurge on something they know they’ll regret. Then since they splurged once, they convince themselves the whole day is a waste and they might as well splurge the entire day. ☹️
Come the following Monday and it’s a little harder to get out of bed and push play. The following days are a struggle and you seriously start to wonder if this is for you. You start sabotaging your workouts with poor eating habits and then get frustrated when you aren’t seeing results. You blame the workouts or new lifestyle and convince yourself there must be an easier way. 🙅🏽‍♀️
Sound familiar? Did you find yourself agreeing to any of the above? Because what I just wrote was EXACTLY my story. I failed NUMEROUS times before finding something that worked for me. I struggled with the most toxic mindset and when things didn’t “work” I would try everything quick under the sun to lose the weight. I only cared about what I looked like...not truly taking care of my body. 
Depriving calories, then binge eating, run a bunch of miles on the treadmill...repeat. 👎🏽
UGH. It breaks my heart typing this out. But it’s the truth. It took me years to find my balance, to figure out what I needed, and to get my mindset in the proper spot. 🙏🏽
My mindset game is STRONG, I have a group of women who cheer me on, and I’ve finally found my happiness with fueling my body to be HEALTHY...not only focusing on vanity.

It’s not noticeable when I’m standing & taking my bathroom mirror selfies..so I thought I’d give y’all an up close & personal shot of what’s really going on under my shirt! I always want to keep it real with y’all, not everything is picture perfect. You’ve seen how my body has transformed since starting my weight loss journey. I am officially down 50lbs since starting 2B mindset in May & 84lbs down since giving birth to Rowan. Yes, I have stretch marks, yes I have loose skin, yes I have scars..but my body did something INCREDIBLE!!!!! It created life & gave birth to my two beautiful boys! The picture to the right was when I was going through depression. I was at my lowest low. I didn’t know how to come out of it. Unfortunately this happened because I was in a toxic relationship and didn’t know how to get get out. .

I've been feeling suffocated by anxiety lately and I've just contributed it to this time of year. The stress of prepping, planning, and buying gifts.
But I know the real reasons and I try to shove them down and not feel them because I think, "it's been years now."
"It shouldn't hurt this much."
"You have to be strong for the kids."
"Pull it together." I lost my grandparents at Christmas time. 
Every year I think it will be easier, but it's not.
I wish they were here to see the boys grow up.
I wish I could have one more laugh with my Pappy.
I wish I could smell that root beer barrel my Grammy always had even though I used to hate it.

It's hard to put on a happy face and get in the spirit when your heart is hurting.

I try really hard to show up as a positive influence every day on social media but truth be told, my heart is hurting and I cried through my run this morning. 
Honestly, I almost didn't even get up to exercise. But 2 years ago I found an outlet for my pain through exercise and I know my Pappy would want me to keep moving forward.
"Dont cry, Meggy. You're too pretty for those tears."
Does exercise always help? No. But it does lessen the sting. A lot.

So you might think I'm crazy for getting up early & exercising but honestly, most days it's my therapy. 
I gave myself a little grace this morning because it's ok to to be sad. It's ok to miss them. 
I'm not sharing this because I want you to feel bad for me, I want you to know and I hope you find peace in knowing you're not alone if you're feeling like this, too. It's ok to not be ok. ❤

HEALTHY BLUEBERRY MUFFINS⠀

Serves: 12 muffins⠀
INGREDIENTS⠀
1 tablespoon freshly ground flax seeds⠀
3 tablespoons warm water⠀
¾ cup plain unsweetened almond milk⠀
2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice⠀
½ cup raw coconut sugar + 1 tablespoon for topping⠀
¼ cup avocado oil⠀
1 teaspoon vanilla extract⠀
2 cups spelt flour⠀
1½ teaspoons baking powder⠀
½ teaspoon baking soda⠀
½ teaspoon cinnamon⠀
½ teaspoon sea salt⠀
2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries⠀
INSTRUCTIONS⠀
Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a muffin tin with 12 liners.⠀
Prepare a flax "egg" by combining the ground flax seeds and warm water. Stir and allow to thicken for 3 minutes. Stir the lemon juice into the almond milk and set aside.⠀
In a large bowl, combine ½ cup raw turbinado sugar, avocado oil, and vanilla. Stir in the flaxseed mixture and almond milk/lemon juice mixture. Sift in the spelt flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. Stir until just combined, being careful not to over-mix. Gently fold the blueberries into the batter. Note: If you're using frozen blueberries, before you fold the berries into the batter, rinse them under cold water until the water runs almost clear.⠀
Divide the batter into the prepared muffin tins, filling each about three-quarters full. Sprinkle with coconut sugar and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes, then serve warm or place on a wire rack to cool completely.⠀ Nutrition Facts⠀

I’ll be honest some are easier than others. 
Today…the struggle was real!! It took all my will power to shut off my alarm and just go back to bed! I had a terrible nights sleep and could make a whole list of excuses to stay in bed!  Thank goodness for pre-workout and my morning accountability  to bring me to life.

Asked the ladies in my bootcamp to hold me accountable to getting back to my miracle mornings (aka up before the sun and crushing my workout) that use to be my jam and day 1/7 is DONE. I didn’t get up quite as early as I’d planned (late night) but I still did it🙌🏼 This time of year I REALLY have to lean into this group because if I didn’t have them, I wouldn’t be showing up. Simple as that. It’s times like these that I’m especially grateful for the support and accountability 💗 Time to make the most of this Monday 🌞

Social situations gave me anxiety😑⁣

Does being out in social situations when you’re trying to adhere to your goals make you all worked up inside? Well it doesn’t have to. There are ways that you can combat these feelings of anxiety to make going out much easier on yourself:⁣
1️⃣Try to plan ahead based on the activity you’ll be doing or setting you will be in. From a nutrition standpoint, if you know you’re going to be indulging a little more while you’re out and about, try to keep your foods prior to going out higher in proteins and lower in fats. This will leave you some more wiggle room when choosing options.⁣
2️⃣Alcohol: if you’re choosing to have a drink or two, keep things light. Don’t go consuming the heaviest beer on the menu or the furthest cocktail they have. Stick to light spirits or wine for something that is less calorically dense.⁣
3️⃣Make sure you stay hydrated. Not only will this help your body continue to run optimally, it will help keep you satiated as well so you don’t feel the need to over indulge.⁣
4️⃣Be sure you stay well rested. Don’t try to rage all night. Sleep is really important and we often take it for granted. Go out and spend some quality time with your friends, but don’t feel like you have to make it all night long!⁣
5️⃣”The Comments”: The dreaded comments & acceptance from your friends & family about what you’re doing & why. Your answer can be simple: I’m taking care of myself. No one can tell you WHAT you should be doing in your own body and sure as hell doesn’t need any sort of explanation as to WHY. So leave it at that—you’re true friends won’t care anyway☺️⁣
