•Why do I Instagram? •
This is a question I’ve been provoked to ponder. After chats with others and reading a recent blog post, I’ve been contemplating the point of Instagram for me personally.
My journey with Insta has gone like this: I initially used it for marketing my little hobby business years ago, where I realised I loved to compile photos with meaningful words that might inspire or motivate others. After closing that down I started my private account (this one), where I had fun getting creative, snapping quirky pics for ‘A photo a Day’ challenges and sharing little snippets of my life. I then had no social media for over 9 months, before reactivating to share a collection of memories from our most epic year travelling Oz. Since being back home, with the encouragement of friends and family, I finally purchased my first digital camera, which is giving me much joy as a creative outlet, capturing the beauty I see around me and sharing it on this platform. .
I recently took a courageous step (brave for me anyway), and made my account Public with the intention of connecting with more people and sharing my perspective via the lens of a camera.
So, after pondering all of this, I have realised that basically - I love to share! I love to share my little snippets of life with thoughts or words. I love to share my love of nature and the beauty that surrounds us! Yes, at times I may even over-share 🤷🏻♀️ I also realise that I have no ambitions of gaining mass followers. I certainly do not want to promote a ‘lifestyle’, or ‘influence’ anyone. Nope. I don’t want that shit. I’d much rather seek true connections with you guys. Most of you I know in ‘real life’, or have had the pleasure of growing long-term connections with on here. And I really enjoy that aspect of Instagram. .
And so, my evolution with Insta continues... It seems I’m yet again here sharing images (all my own now), with words, thoughts and feelings that I hope might evoke, inspire or motivate you. .
I’m stoked if you enjoy my posts - please don’t be shy to comment or chat - and if you don’t gel with them - all good. Kindly unfollow & free up some space for those who do 🌻✌🏻
I knew these guys would be cool. You have a full walk thru for car operations before you hit the road. Not only is the right hand drive a lil curve ball but the extra steps to operate our little cutie. @rentacheapie you’re the best.
HELLO! 👋🏻 Just wanted to introduce ourselves to our newest followers! We are The Odyssey Skoolie! We have 2 human occupants: Heather and Karley, and 3 four-legged creatures: Lily, Leo and Bailey. We are from the Metro-Detroit area and we are full-time Skoolie living!
It’s funny how it works with expectations…
We all know it’s best not to have too many expectations, cause usually it turns out totally different anyway. But yeah, we are just human too you know hahah! So by reading the internet and guide book about NP Huerquehue we totally had a picture in mind of how our time here would be! We read about one of the most beautiful hikes in the area along aquamarine lakes and dense forest where you’ll be rewarded at the end with a stunning view on 9 different volcanoes! Wow, yes please! But ofcourse, this didn’t exactly turned out that way…. No clear skies for us when we were there, instead it rained all night and the weather was best described as moody Monday weather when we woke up… so no we didn’t get rewarded with stunning views on snow caped volcanoes, but instead we experienced such a beautiful spooky scene in the dense forest surrounding the lake! We didn’t expect this mysterious fairytale scenery at all, and wow it totally captured our imagination. It was waking up in one of the scenes of #GameofThrones ourselves. What a great surprise and unexpected gift after all ;-)
Enchanted Gardens in the Roma Street Parklands bringing all my childhood fairy fantasies to life! 💜💚❤ Instead of reading a book at night my dad used to tell me fairy stories!! They were about the garden fairy Silky who lived in our backyard, her and I would sneak out at night for fairy adventures!
How lucky was I to have such a imaginative dad to make up so many fairy stories for me 💜 and maybe instill a little adventure in me? 😉
A while back I was asked what I thought about Beautycounter’s hair care products. At the time I hadn’t used them yet and since I’m not comfortable putting a stamp of approval on anything I haven’t tried I couldn’t review them.
My Moroccan oil just ran out so I upgraded to these and I’m happy to report that I love them 😍
It’s super dry at this altitude so I opted for a hydrating combo but they make a shampoo/conditioner for every hair type. I love the way my hair feels - clean and soft without being heavy - and the aroma is perfect for me. Neither too masculine or too feminine.
It wasn’t our plan to stop at Santiago, usually we aren’t very fond of big cities...but our van changed our plans dramatically so we got stuck for 2 weeks in this metropole. So we started exploring. And to us a visit to the neighberhood of Departemental was the best! Just a working class area, ‘nothing fancy’ you first think, but then these massive murals of @museoacieloabierto appear, woowww! Just beautiful and it’s great how it just changes the appearance of this area in a turn 👌- artist of this mural: @inti_cl

Now he insists on walking everywhere and doing everything for himself everything takes twice as long, but it's also twice as much fun - and alive! ⌚⌚⌚ And we CAN usually take that extra time. It's more about resetting our own mental clocks and being willing to turn everything down a notch on our own speedometer.
Another great lesson in #mindfulness from my very own mini guru; there is a great deal to be gained when we slow down a gear or two: we see more, we feel more and we have to listen more.
Little kids aren't subject to the go go go of the modern world that has hijacked most of us and our lives. In being willing to - in allowing ourselves to - take things at their pace, there is a great deal to be learned about the art and the beauty of #slow#lifeintheslowlane#slowmotherhood#slowparenting#mindfulness4mums#mindfulmotherhood
only the cutest thing ive ever seen⚡️i know i say this a lot but wow am i lucky to live this life. think about your day. think about what made you happy during it. and think about what pushed you to make it the best one yet. hold on to that, it’s what counts 🌙
Wow, but self care is especially a challenge with house guests! As lovely as they may be, our time is occupied round the clock, sleeping arrangements may be unideal and we are often on the go showing folks around. I’m in the middle of a visit from my in-laws and just a few days into a new medication, both of which are messing with my sleep (which has never been awesome to begin with). On top of it, things I would normally do to take care of myself are not as possible. Fortunately, I have been able to lay down and nap a little and also space out staring at the fire. Staring at the fire made me realize how little I zone out anymore. Since the advent of the smart phone I don’t think people do that so much. We are able to fill every down moment with nothing important. So, days 3 and 4 of my #20daysofselfcare have been simple like this. Not much, I guess, but what we need doesn’t have to be anything extravagant or complicated. In fact, in this overcharged world in which we live, I’d say less really is more.
