From back in August, on a trip to one of my favorite places...the Uintas! My Dad snapped this pic on his phone as he patiently waited for me to cast that “one last cast” for the, I don’t know, 10th time, give or take!.. 😉 I think we’ve all been there, right?!.. The famous, “Just one more cast............” haha..😆✌🏻
I do love this pic for a couple reasons though... For one, my Dad surprised me with his skills on taking this. I love looking at his random photos on his phone from one of our trips. And two, I used to be the one to call it a day, and wait for him to finish fishing. It’s crazy how much I enjoy this sport now and that we can enjoy time together in the mountains at some very beautiful places. 🎣 #utah#flyfishing#uintas#lifeelevated#getoutside
My obsession with collecting #sunglasses began in 2006 when I became a US citizen and went back to #Jamaica to visit. At the time, I was a contact lenses user. Truth be told, I was pretty reckless in college as I worked full time and went to school full time. Couple that with the fact that I also had a 3-hour daily commute between #NewYork and #LongIsland . By the time I got home most nights, I just crashed with my contact lenses still in 😩. Over time, my eyesight got worse and by the time I went back to 🇯🇲, I needed both contact lenses and prescription glasses 🤦♀️. When I went to the beach, I specifically told my cousins not to splash me in the face because I had contacts in. Sure enough, someone got carried away and splashed me and there went my lenses. I had brought my glasses so I was covered from a vision perspective, but not for long as it began to drizzle. That was it for me and when I got back to the US, I started to research Lasik eye surgery (I’ll tell you about that experience some other time). By March 2007, I got the surgery and my life without contact lenses has been glorious (I might need a touch up though as I’m back to prescription glasses occasionally). This was my first vacation post surgery and I went to Mexico by myself in August 2007. This was the beginning of some wonderful solo trips with at least 3 pairs of sunglasses in my tote. In this photo, I was on my way to a parasailing adventure.
Climbing used to genuinely make me this happy😀 After going through a major depression, and gaining a shit ton of weight, I pretty much stopped doing it because it made me feel defeated. More than I already was feeling. ————————————————
Recently, I have been trying to get back into it and am so grateful to have my number/day one climbing buddy @miziguanaaa along with a few new ones @kylethegray @kandy_gurl_ to enjoy, and rediscover my love for it with.
Enjoying THIS moment and all things sharing it with me 📸 : @melaniepearl
After graduating I became enthralled with the history of the earth; organic and inorganic. The vastness of time, and the intricacies of what has been had me longing for a deeper understanding. I devoured books by the likes of Stephen J Gould, Rachel Carson, and Carl Sagan. Paleontology and geology became my obsession to the point where, during recreational climbing trips, I would spend more time admiring limestone outcrops and their fossils than I would actually climbing the routes I had come there for.
Yet emerging from this paleontological binge, it came to me that the life that now exists may be more worthy of my mental capacity. For today is a point unique to time, and today’s organisms are tomorrow’s fossils.
Weekend adventures are the best! We are coming up on our 3 year anniversary of living in Utah (that flew by, huh?) and we are still amazing by how many beautiful places are here! Check my stories for the gorgeous sunset after leaving the Spiral Jetty!
Two different people stopped to see if I needed help yesterday while I was out taking pictures (thinking I’d slid off the road or something) and that’s how I know there’s still good in the world. (It also makes me think I must constantly have a look of distress on my face or something 😆)
can’t wait to have a wood stockpile like this in the back of my house one day. there’s just something so cozy + romantic about cuddling up to a real wood burning fireplace and the sweet sound of “snap, crackle, pop”. 🔥 #brooxie#lifegoals

This is the view from my new winter home in Utah. It ain't Alaska, but it ain't bad. Its 45degrees today, water's glass, and nobody is wakeboarding. @adventurewolf99 couldnt tell me why not. Don't make me tell the story about when I jumped in a hole in the sea ice wearing nothing but running shorts.... Winter Wakeboarding Club coming soon. .
the BEST weekend: ski, eat, run, eat, ski, eat, hike, eat, COOKIE CAKE...thank you @pommer_aaron for the best weekend ever, teaching me to almost not fall skiing, and for not getting mad when I knocked us down on purpose.
We ran our first trail race together on Antelope Island! I ran my first half marathon and Darryl ran his first race of any kind. So of course he chose to run a 50k! And even with a few injuries, he still prevailed and proved that running 31 miles, in 29 degree weather, rain/sleet and 3,500 ft of elevation gain wasn’t too big of a challenge for him. @darrylevanetich you are so inspirational! #antelopeisland#50k#ultrarunning
