The impressive 32 meter tall colorful statue of Maitrai Buddha perched on top the hill lock, facing the Shyok River towards Pakistan, compliments the barren surrounding perfectly. According to the Buddhists, Maitrai Buddha means “The Future Buddha” , the Buddha who shall rule the world when people will stop following the preachings of the current Buddha. (SWIPE LEFT <— )

The inner temple at the Hemis Monastery, with the idol of Tibetan God Zambala, coolest part they serve him Rum and Whiskey as offerings ....amazing faith and beliefs :-)
Met these two little monks studying at the monastery, Stanzan and Ricksin, who happily agreed to pose for us, in return for a bottle of apple juice :-)
