More story stones! I may have a problem but I made a few more sets of story stones, farm animals, trucks and dinosaurs. So far he’s dug the truck ones out of his Flisat table with coffee beans and played matching with the trucks. Truck matching was popular and he did it a few times each day this week. I try not to put pressure on him to activities how I imagine, but it is pretty exciting when they go according to plan and he really enjoys them. 😊🤗

A perfect day for outdoor play ☀️
What a beautiful day it was today. Once again we’ve had the perfect combination of sunshine and rain, allowing our sensory garden to continue to blossom and grow. The bougainvillea looks just stunning and the flowers make the perfect addition to the treats being cooked up in the mud kitchen. There’s even a sneaky self-seeded tomato in there (I wonder if you can’t spot it!)
Dolls beds come in many shapes and sizes but this one from @donebydeer is very special 😍 Also comes in soft pink and bedding is available too. RRP $135 and you can get it via the link in our bio. Make someone very happy this Christmas 🌲

| STARS ✨ | my boys are obsessed! Through reading kid’s books to teach my kids more about stars, I’ve been learning all about them myself 😳 My favourites facts:
1. a star is considered a sun if it’s in the centre of a planetary system
2. our sun is a yellow dwarf star
3. stars get bigger as they get older and they eventually die!
Did you guys know all this? It just shows that we never stop learning, especially when you have kids!
Leroy the Lion 🦁 Oh I do love him 😊 1 more sleep!! Our whole Alphabet range will be available tomorrow night at 8pm!!! 24 hours from now! If that helps anyone in a different time zone. Set your alarms 🚨🚨🚨

Our guest post this month comes from Dr Andrea Bonior. A clinical psychologist based at Georgetown University over in the US. She's a mum and a writer who has made a whole career of translating the science of psychology into meaningful life skills! She works as a professor and a therapist transferring her skills into classrooms.
👩🏫 She kindly contributed to Heads Shoulders Knees this month advocating for our children to play with sticks and get amongst nature like we used to back in the day!
🙋♀️ If this idea interests you, please clink on the link in my bio and have a read of Dr Bonior's standpoint.

//MY WHY// I actually started Learning Blocks in 2012 (pre-kids), so I’m not originally a ‘mumpreneur’ but my girls are definitely now a huge part of why I do what I do. .
I’m so passionate about education and supporting parents and children, so for me, having Learning Blocks allows me to combine all of these passions AND it gives me an opportunity to show my girls that anything is possible, nothing is out of reach and hopefully it encourages them to do what they love too.
The structure of my business has changed over the past 6 years, allowing me to be home with my girls and continue to help other mums. This is something that I feel so blessed for. .
I love me family and it’s important for me to show my girls what’s possible, what’s important in life and to never give up. #realmum#bizmum#mywhy
PUZZLE FUN VERSION 2.0 👀🖐🏼
Puzzles are great for practicing trial and error processes, it also helps develop an understanding for objects and shapes!
Version 2.0 of the icy pole puzzle is based upon animals 🦁 I simply glued an image of an animal onto multiple icy pole sticks, then cut in between each pole. It’s that easy!
To add some more fun, I wrote the animal noise on the back, which will be revealed once the puzzle is complete! 🐶
This version is great to develop animal recognition from segments, linking animal noise to image, and ALL the other skills that version 1.0 mentioned! (fine motor skills, trial and error, and problem solving skills) I love animal noises as a learning experience for manipulating vocal chords and imaginative play!
What’s your favourite animal? 🐼🦋🐘
Keep a look out for version 3.0 and 4.0 of puzzle fun this week! Don’t forget to make your own puzzles and hashtag #theotzone
"Following the theme of this month's core story, I decided to set up a small world tuff spot for the children to explore and be imaginative with their own storylines. Using stones as different characters, the children cooperatively played with each other calling out repeated refrains such as "i'm having a feast with the gruffalo" as well as "my favourite food is grufflao crumble" and "come for dinner in my house". It was so lovely to hear the children all using different voices when pretending to be the different characters. Making sure to include each other, this activity lasted for quite a while, regularly changing the storyline into ones that those have independently created. This was such lovely playing friends, well done!" - Aunty Ellie 🌳🍂🐭🦉🐍🦊
Today is the last day to place your pre-order to enjoy the $40 promo price for the Food Nutrition Box by @bagforfunbff.sg and @ourlittleplaynest.
This shopping activity is my favourite activity in the box because it is so versatile and can be adapted for play for different age groups. Swipe to see the videos for examples.
🍉 1 to 3 yos - identifying food items using the food cards, categorisation into different food types (meat, vegetables, dairy etc), fine motor skills (extracting and inserting coins and notes into the wallet, creative play with the cute shopping trolley.
🍞 3 to 6 yos - basic phonics. E isn't able to read the words in the baskets so we worked on beginning sounds. He went shopping and picked a chicken. I told him it belonged to the meat category which began with the "mmm" sound and he placed it in the corresponding basket.
🥦 5 and up - handwriting practice (write the prices on the wipe-clean sheet), counting money (learning that two 50 cents make $1), addition, budgeting (you have $16 and cannot buy everything), shopping to get a balanced diet, learn fun food facts printed on the reverse side of the food cards.
This is a great hands-on activity particularly for kids starting P1 next year. They can learn to count money and you can use this activity to guide them to make good food decisions (with $5, do you blow it all on chocolate or buy some bread and fruit for a balanced meal?).
Eat well and have fun!
• C o l o u r S p l a t // I have seen this activity so much lately I thought it was about time we give it a try - and it did not disappoint ✨
We used a toliet roll with the ends cut into strips and it worked a treat! Scarlett had a blast ‘splatting’ the paint onto the page, as that what she called it 😂
Absolutely in love with what the children created with assorted loose parts today. They persisted with the challenge of building this track for the motorised car and engaged in lots of problem solving to get the car to go where they wanted 🚘🎢❤️

Today in therapy, we're working on language and literacy skills! The children have to read and follow the instructions on how to make a zipper pouch.
It's SO motivating for my clients to walk away with a finished product and they are learning all kinds of language and reading comprehension skills!
From understanding what they have read to inferring meanings and understanding basic concepts. This activity has been a goal goldmine!
"Our ECAT book of the month is ‘The Gruffalo’, so today on our morning outing, we went to Snowden Field. I hurried ahead of the children and went to hide the Gruffalo in the wooden tree area. The children walked across the field keeping a look out for the Gruffalo and the other animals from the story. They used their imagination during this activity, looking down a ditch and saying that they saw the snake, looking up at the trees and saying they saw the owl, finding a big pile of leaves and saying that’s the foxes home and finally finding a hole in a big log and telling us the mouse lived in there. The children enjoyed this so much and extended their own learning by working as a team and sharing different thoughts and ideas. Well done!" - Aunty Shannon 🌲🍂🌿
