Super excited about Besties - an all vegan market in Los Angeles, opened by one of my besties @bestiesveganparadise. I'm hoping all my animal loving IG friends will show his page some love and support.
This may be the last @veganstreetfair of the year, but it’s my first time at the smaller vendor festival and I LOVED every minute of it! 🙌🥰🎉
There was a marvelous plethora of vegan brands such as @iapparel of the @antidairysocialclub clothing attire, @ab.sorbets aka the tip-top fruit sorbet place that also serves their creations in fruit shells (mine was peach sorbet, which is my favorite flavor aside from strawberry! 🍓🍑), @clean_south which develops the most comforting and hearty “honee BBQ chicken” (quoted since it’s not actually chicken with honey 🍯🍗), @cinnaholic with a vegan eggnog pie cinnamon roll, @the_base_co that whipped up a beautiful iced blackberry charcoal tea, and a fave—@stonergirltreatsandeats as a specialty CBD-infused vegan dessert line that baked these vanilla matcha cupcake and raw hemp ball! 🧁🍵🥧
Also worthy of noting is that the crew of @iapparel are the BEST EVER—my visit consisted of exploring the vendors, freestyling, meeting new people, and break-dancing with @timbothetruth 💃 just kidding, I didn’t actually break dance...I more so made a lame attempt at dancing like how they do in the 70s! 😂🌟
When I met @dinewithcaroline in June, she had mentioned that she cooks and might want to start getting her food out there. Fast forward 6 months and she’s got a full on vegan pop-up at Vegan Sunday!! Congrats, girl! 🎉 It’s so awesome seeing friends crushing their dreams. Go follow @veganearthcafe to find out where she’ll be popping up next!

A weekly admission-free all-vegan market that has been happening since October, Vegan Sunday will be going till 4pm TODAY at 5300 BAKMAN AVE between Chandler and Weddington in North Hollywood, California. The very first thing we did on our trip to Kaua’i was hit up @papayasnaturalfoods for some groceries and fresh grub. We got this bomb 💣tempeh wrap with a major wasabi punch 🤛 Then we stopped at a random cliff to eat it and take in the awesomeness that is the Garden Isle. 😍

Breakfast burrito beautifulness!
Seriously, this is a MUST TRY!!
All you need is a block of tofu, half an onion, half a bell pepper, 1 t minced garlic, half a can of beans and half a can of corn (rinsed), zucchini and any other veggies you like (I've also used mushroom and broccoli😏😋). For the spices, you'll need 2 T of nutritional yeast, 2 T turmeric, garlic powder and pepper to taste. Also, you've gotta serve with some 🥑🥑🥑🥑🥑 •
First drain your tofu by covering it in paper towels and compressing it with something heavy like a plate. While that sits, cut up and prepare all of your veggies. Be careful cutting the onion, I was having a cry fest!😂😂First cook the onion on medium heat until translucent and then add the minced garlic and let cook for another minute. Then add in your drained scrambled tofu and cook on medium heat for about 4 minutes, stirring frequently. Then add in your veggies, beans and corn, and cook for another 5 minutes. Finally, spice it up!! When it is fully cooked and hot, serve over a warm tortilla (I use ezekiel brand), or just as a scramble with toast😊!

Where to start with this one.. So many different kinds of fats, and all have a different role in the body and place as part of balanced diet. -
Total fat should make up about 20% of your calories per day. Remember though that 1 gram of fat is worth 9 calories, whereas 1 gram or carbohydrate and protein is 4 calories. -
If aiming for health, get most of your fats from whole food sources like avo's, nuts, seeds, even natural butters. These are unsaturated fats, either mono or poly. Try limit the trans and saturated fats. Yes coconut oil is a saturated fat and all saturated fats whether long chain or medium chain triglycerides have a similar affect on the body if you have too much of them. -
The good thing about the plant based diet is that saturated fat isn't a common feature as its most commonly food in animal products. Us humans have no need to digest saturated fat as we do pretty good at making it on our own.
As for trans fats they are usually added into processed food (vegan food included) Look out for the words "shortening," "hydrogenated" and "partially hydrogenated oil," as these indicate hidden trans fats on labels. Deep fried food can also contain these.
If you are aiming for fat loss, having fat in your diet is still needed, but just remember if you have a certain amount of energy intake to aim for, is having a few tablespoons of olive oil to cook in the best use of your energy allowance? -
Let me explain (there is a post on this on my feed) But 1 tablespoon of olive oil has the same amount of energy as 2 1/2 apples. Which of the two options is going to full you up for longer if you are trying to not get hungry? -
