A new NBC/WSJ poll finds, "The percentage of women, Latinos and young voters expressing high interest in the midterms — those registering either a “nine” or “10” on a 10-point scale — has increased by double digits from their average in the past NBC/WSJ polls this year."
Just as importantly, this begins to counter the belief that Latino voters were not paying attention to the election and may not turnout. .

In solitude is where I find strength.
I love people so much. And a lot of everything overwhelms me. I want to be big and I want to create and collaborate. I want to paint everyday and make music like I was born to do. I want an enormous platform to speak for those that can’t and be there for them. I want energy and funds to give. I want to tell my story without fear. I want better lives for oppressed people. I want them to be able to be left alone and shine/thrive when they want to and when they’re ready.
With all I still have left to do...I hide and long for sweet silence, comfort, healing, and self-rejuvenation

Trying to keep perspective is so hard when you're in the thick of it all! Checking in with you, my friends, about this past week. I have one kid that's obsessed with poop, another that was getting too aggressive and a third that's in pain! Thankfully, my mom is back and that helped a lot. Plus, I celebrate the little achievements, which is one of the keys to feeling like you're not totally sucking at parenting. Sharing with you all some of my priorities and lessons I've been focusing on and reminded of! #SwipeUP on this teaser in my Instagram Story or Highlight to watch this video in full or view it on my @ThePerezHilton YouTube channel at YouTube.com/ThePerezHilton or directly at this link HERE: https://perezhilton.com/2018-10-21-one-day-at-a-time-deep-breaths/

In other words, WE #latinx NEED TO VOTE. As a #votingblock we can tip the scale on a lot of the most competitive races on #november6 “Beneath the hot Mojave Desert sun on a recent afternoon, they marched door to door across the cracked Las Vegas streets, searching for votes. Tablets in hand, wearing matching red shirts, the two Spanish-speaking canvassers have been working close to 10 hours a day, six days a week, since the summer.
It can be difficult work, but even in an era of digital advertising and blast texts, canvassing is considered the gold standard in political organizing. Face-to-face contact is proven to increase the odds that a voter will actually turn out. “The way you get there isn’t spending another $2 million on television ads,” said Ms. Jones. “It’s spending time to build an army on the ground.” Read article: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/21/us/trump-latinos-democrats-midterms.html
I am Mexican. However, when I look at myself, I see someone who's phenotype is more representative of European ancestry. Obviously I am sure, that like most Mexican people I have strong Amerindian ancestry as well, it is just not as visibly expressed in my phenotype. Now, because we do not live in a vacuum and everything we do is politically charged whether we like it or not we have to realize how our society works. We live in a society governed by a white gaze. Our ideas of race have all come from a white standpoint. Further this gaze, is more concerned with how you look or how you seem vs what you actually are. This is the case in what led to the one drop rule. It is not that you are this and that but rather you look like this or that . Keeping that in mind...I am aware of how I look vs what I may actually be composed of and the politics behind it. Now in the midst of 2018 where everyone wants to be woke AF or whatever, I have noticed a lot of Mexican/Chicanos who share a similar aesthetic as me, embracing and wearing the struggles of more Amerindian aesthetic Mexican as this badge of honor. Perhaps in a way to show your abandonment of white supremacist society and the your distaste for it which is understandable ...I see it on t-shirts and other novelties. Sometimes announcing these struggles in their blog or their Instagram...and it honestly baffles me, and once again this is just my opinion , but it baffles me that when you acknowledge the reality of all of this, the people you most closely resemble were the oppressors of those whose struggle you are claiming. Maybe you are very much descended from more Amerindian composed Mexicans, maybe I am too. But like me you look like the people on the other side of this equation, and I personally have always been unable to claim so much of that struggle because I have quite frankly found it disrespectful and tone deaf. Let me give you an example to summarize this. If there was a casting tomorrow for an movie about Aztec vs Spaniard battle, who am I to audition for the role of the Aztec warrior? As much as I would like my appearance to not be politicized it is and I am very much aware #mexican#sociology#history
Selena Quintanilla has been memorialized and unbelievably commercialized in the past few years but let me tell you that I went through a phase in my life where I told my family that MY NAME was no longer Anneleise it was #SELENA . Selena Brunch today gave me all the feels. I cried on the dance floor. DC doesn’t even have that many Mexicans but Latinxs showed tf up for this event and I’m grateful for this community 😭😭😭 so much red lipstick and wing eyeliner. This is whatsup! #selenabrunchdc#selenaquintanilla#latinx
