First time painting a marina- in Newhaven. Got soaked several times, and struggled when the tide came in and changed the position of the boats and all my guide points! 30cm x 30cm oil and raindrops on panel!
Jackson’s painting in situ at his home in Greenville. We carried the lawyer/barrister case with a few relics from here at the old farmhouse on the hill to him since he’s always loved it. Inside there’s a couple of my dad’s collected horse figurines, deer antler found on our farmland, an old stirrup we dug up, cow bells that hung around the bulls neck my dad rode as a young boy, and many, many other family treasures. He said it makes his place feel more like home and that makes his momma happy!
It always amazes me how after a field trip into the countryside, as if by osmosis, the colours of the land soak into my soul and come out in my work. I’m never quite sure what’s going to emerge. Well, this is the result and I’m really excited about the shapes and colours in this new body of work. #landscape_today
