I don’t post often. I used to be diligent about posting on all of my families birthdays and special holidays. But, in later years, I’ve found it more personal to just spend time with that person. But, from time to time I find it necessary to publicly brag on that person. In light of it being Fathers Day, I felt it time to brag on my ‘ole man for a minute.
Having my dad as a part of my life is a blessing in of itself. I look at my life and consider those that never got to have that role model in their life. For that alone, I am beyond blessed and incredibly thankful. Even in addition to that, what a great dad I’ve been given. For as long as I can remember, he’s been there to show me what a Godly man looks like. Not just in word, but in deed. He is a man that truly lived out what he believes and practices what he preaches (pun always intended). He’s always been that listening ear when I needed to vent. He’s always been that encouraging word when life got to be confusing and hard. He’s always been the loving hand of correction when I needed it. He’s always been the fun loving dad that just enjoyed having his kids around and spending time with family. Most importantly, he’s been that godly example in my life that I look up to with such high respect. He’s been an outstanding representation of The Lord’s love for me.
Dad, Thank you. Simply thank you for all that you have given me and my siblings. I look around me at us all and see how your life has effected ours. I see how your heart has shown my sisters what a good husband and father should look like in choosing their spouses. I can see the ways that your behaviors have cause me and my brothers to act as proper gentlemen. You’ve shown me how to act respectfully. How to consider others. How to relax and have fun. But, most importantly, you showed me how to put God first and foremost in my life. For all of this, I cannot thank you enough. Happy Fathers Day, Poppalopagos.
