In less than a week, the Icelandic Minister for Nordic Cooperation, Sigurður Ingi Jóhannsson will be leading the parade through the streets of Copenhagen. Starting on the Christiansborg Royal Riding Track, he will be accompanied by the Chairman of the Danish Icelandic Horse Association, Mie Trolle and together, they will be leading the parade through the centre of the city, finishing at Nordatlantens Brygge by the Icelandic Embassy. Here, visitors will be greeted by a rich program of activities, celebrating the 50-year anniversary of the Danish Icelandic Horse Association as well as the 100-year anniversary of Icelandic sovereignty from Denmark. Among the speakers are Kristinn Hugason, Director of The Icelandic Horse History Centre. You will also be able to see films connected to the Icelandic sovereignty, learn about the story behind the iconic Icelandic sweater, experience the horses in 3D and enjoy traditional Icelandic pancakes. All generations will be able to get to know the Icelandic Horse in their very own way!
