Process and product (swipe right). Soothing and meditative and sometimes fraught with confusion while it’s happening (is this right? Is this what we had in mind?), and filled with wonder and joy (and sometimes relief) when it emerges from the blocking bath in its closer to final form. I’m going to be looking for testers for this yoked, cabled pullover in the next few days; let me know if you’re interested! A wider view of the body is in my stories... #newdesigns#designprocess#testknitting#sinceresheep#cormo#yokedsweater#topdown#seamlessknitting#topdownsweater

Welcome to Day 16 of #KnitAugust
Today’s featured pattern is Banksia Shawl
In just about any landscape in Australia, you will find Banskia, one of my favourite bush flowers. Its characteristic flower spikes and geometric leaves were the inspiration for Banskia Shawl, a simple asymmetrical triangle that makes the most of two skeins of fingering weight yarn. The rich toffee shades and graphic lace sections of the sample evoke the golden tones and bold shapes of this beloved flower. Knit on the bias with easy garter sections to set off the lace, Banskia Shawl is a relaxed knit and an elegant, wearable finished piece. Swipe to see the inspiration flower and more pics.

I couldn’t get the stars to look right on the larger flag, so I went with buttons. This is the most buttons I’ve sewn in one sitting! 🤣 (scroll back in my grid to see how cool Jimmy Kimmel looks knitting my flag!)

I‘m knitting a sweater in this beautiful red yarn (Mechita in Cereza by @malabrigoyarn) at the moment but since it’s a testknit for @hada131 I can’t show anything specific. So this must do for now! Another perfect autumn piece 🍁🍂
Our natural undyed shades of Owl are fan favorites, but it’s a wonderful sight to see our dyed colors getting some love, too - like this gorgeous Birch in Mesa and Tawny, shared from @tomahawkcreekcreative. Beautiful work! 🍂 Find the pattern in Pam Allen’s book, Plain and Simple, and see Owl’s complete color range (all colors in stock!) through our profile link. 🕊 #quinceowl#quinceandco
i'm busy working on prep stuff before i leave for pei this weekend - getting the next two weeks of @fromfieldtoskin releases ready, pulling together material for tomorrow's short rows class @wolseleywool, trying to finish off the sleeves of my new sweater design so i can wear it on the island, pattern edits... @marigoldmade and i did a little indigo experimenting earlier today too 😊 ---
this fall is gonna be chock full of classes @wolseleywool, but if you're an east coaster, you can steal some time with me next week @fleeceandharmony - we still have spaces left! and we're having a party next friday. this friday is also worth celebrating though, because the #burdock shawl and my interview with @circlerlamb will be online! did you know you can grab the full #forage collection on #ravelry for a reduced price? snag it now and burdock and next week's #elderberry hat will be added automatically, or wait for the individual patterns if you have something specific in mind. i design all the @fromfieldtoskin designs with practicality in mind, so whether you work in the city or on the land, you can adorn yourself with cozy knits that'll look sophisticated even if you're hauling water across the field or running for the bus. you can pick my brain about design process in one of my design classes 😉 right now, i need to get back to my needles. happy midweek!
#woolwednesday Another example of variegated yarn, this time a self-striping one. Self-striping yarn creates clear stripes when knit without having to switch between different colored yarn - pretty convenient! The length of each colored section may vary, resulting in stripes of various thicknesses. ---
What would you use self-striping yarn for?
