Doing a little recon for a possible future Speedy purchase and the manager at @finksjewelers learned me on the difference between the sapphire and hesalite. The sapphire (right) has this noticeable refracted white ring around the dial whereas the hesalite (left) does not. Normally I'm a sapphire or die guy but what has been seen cannot be unseen and that white ring would bug me 😎 Both are beautiful but hesalite for me all the way 👌🏻
New arrival today, this Kintarō Hattori watch company Time Keeper pocketwatch. The Time Keeper is (what would later become) Seiko's first watch, debuted in 1895. This example is one of the last produced - from around 1910 - just before the 1913 Laurel was introduced - Seiko's first wristwatch - also in 900 silver with an enamel dial. Excited to have the running pair with unblemished dials - > 210 years old between them.
