Everyone who was born in USSR will remember this pattern. It was used as an ornament of top surface of kitchen tables. Millions of such tables were produced in Soviet Union. Every Soviet family owned at least one such a table. And every Soviet child ate at such a table and saw such a crazy pattern at least two times per day, while breakfast and supper. For me personally it was like a Rorschach test, where I always found different and new details and figures all the time. Do you remember it, guys? 🕸️🕷️🐺👀👁️🍽️🤩
German version below 😉Good Morning 🙌🏻Its grey and cold here in the Netherlands but our new kitchen table is cheering me up❤️We‘ve found it at a kind of thrift store called #kringloopwinkel here in NL and I knew that this one had to come with us home❤️Our intention is to buy second hand and give preloved items a new home instead of buying all the things new at IKEA .we do that as well 🙈but we are trying to live more sustainable and in a more simple way .We all have too much stuff ,the typical first world problem but we all can avoid certain things and be more thankful for all that we already have ❤️Do you buy in thrift stores?Where do you buy your furniture? This house is full of handcrafted details and imperfections which makes it less glossy but more charming,I could never live in a home without a soul.Dont get me wrong ,I adore all those clean white new buildings which are looking as if they came directly out of some interior magazines,it’s just not my way of living 😉
A Christmas inspired QUIZ tonight from 7.30pm - there are rumours of a bonanza Pass the Parcel & maybe some of the legendary mulled wine..
PS last day on Sunday until the New Year, come get your @parlouruk fix this week before the holidays.
My salvation is a rhythm
That cradles me, calms me
That makes me fall in love and carries me
When I find it in a step
A symphony of trees and lake
An agreement of gestures and glance
Which turns into music
It is the same rhythm at which sometimes
My sternum, my crankshaft
Making me dance
Write a poem
Lavorare senza fatica
Scrivere una poesia
I snuck out to the shop this afternoon so I could get a jump start on a new table I’m hoping to get done this week. This reclaimed Doug fir I’m using has some awesome character and was actually part of an old barn that was torn down on the clients property. I’m super excited to get this one put together.
Today's agenda final coat of lacquer finish on the old walnut table that will soon be the kitchen table. I failed at remembering a before picture but this table was in sad shape and required a lot of sanding... #walnuttable#kitchentable#oldwoodnewlife
A SHORT sunny Sunday morning. My sister arrived home from Dubai this morning so she was keeping the kids entertained while I took this pic. So far we are delighted to have used the bench on one side of the table. Inevitably we all end up squashed here, sitting in different positions. Isabella and Alexander also like to use it as a balance beam.
Excuse all the reflections in the glass, it means either 1) I am a bad photographer or 2) my windows are extra shiny . I’ll go with 2😉.
Hope you all had a great weekend.
Yesterday’s industriousness in the kitchen has given way to today’s slower pace... made bread for a housewarming party for friends and these little ravioli filled with kabocha squash (same recipe used with butternut - recipe on blog and link in profile). Hadn’t ever made round ravioli, the precision is lovely but the wasted pasta (or, rather, the ‘rimpastare’ that’s required is what made us late for the house warming!). They’ve been frozen and are ready for a quick meal anytime this coming winter. Buon appetito!
My father-in-law bought this table on the left for £2.50 from a charity shop. When my husband picked it up it fell apart so he threw it away. I knew it could be saved so I got it back out of the bin and gave it to my grandad along with some navy blue paint and what a transformation it’s is!!! My grandad is a legend when it comes to diy, this now stands proudly in our new kitchen and matches perfectly with our bar stools and pendant lights 😊
